A Story Within
Calligramme poetry

Fields of wheat thrashing, floating adrift with butterflies tender touch. Small boy with a giant book a world within a world reach for words that contain me, reading, and kisses, A story within a story within…

This is a fun experiment with Calligrammes — here’s a description in French. Here’s one in English. I have the Surrealists on the brain as we’re examining them in the writing group I run…and I love the way they cropped up at such a time when reality was something to be questioned — after the first World War. I’m constantly thinking that our current reality is also to be questioned…that the dreamlike, the emotional, the internal seems more real than the ‘stories’ that we can find on the news. But no matter…art is always a beautiful way to approach and to know this world.
If you create one of these, please tag me in. I’d love to see it. And you can definitely submit one to Vagabond Voices — this is a place for your experiments, for your first ventures, for uncharted territory.
Thanks for reading,
