A Story In Only 10 Words?!
I’m honored and humbled to have been tagged in Tree Langdon’s piece The Agony of Concise Writing, thank you!

The challenge is to write a story in 10 words and be concise in your writing, something I honestly feel I need to improve. Hmm…
Currently I enjoy writing about nature, living a simple life, and enjoying what I believe brings real wealth to our lives. I’ve recently been inspired by books like The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines Into Massive Success by Jeff Olson, and Things That Matter by Joshua Becker.
In Things That Matter, Joshua quotes Seneca the Younger who was a Roman philosopher born in 4BC. Seneca says,
“It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested…life is long if you know how to use it”
This quote means a great deal to me. It resonates in everything I try to achieve for myself. Whether it be keeping my home clean and feeling good, eating well, losing weight, saving money, feeling my strength build during workouts, or practicing my writing. The common denominator in all of these things is that a little bit each day goes a very long way.
I find fulfillment through putting in that 1% effort every day. It’s in the moments I decide not to scroll on social media and instead turn to Medium to write, or when I go outside for a short walk instead of mindlessly snacking, or when I clean my plate and put it away instead of leaving it in the sink. I learn more about myself and invite personal accomplishment into my life by practicing what I think Seneca the Younger must have meant in that quote.
So with all that in mind, here is my 10 word story. It might be a rewritten form of something already in existence, but it’s also a summary of my unwritten autobiography:
After taking many small steps, she had climbed a mountain.
I hope you liked this! Wishing you all a beautiful day, and now to pass this challenge on to a few of my friends here on Medium. I’m eager to read the stories you come up with!
