A Spotlight On The Hidden Voices Of Illumination
Step up guys, you deserve it
This morning I was inspired by an article by a fellow editor Geetika Sethi to shine the spotlight on those among us who do not seem to seek the spotlight. These are the often hidden voices that speak out to us from the back of the room. They write well and with the same passion as the rest of us. And for those two reasons alone I am more than happy to choose the following writers. In a totally random order first, let me introduce you to Stuart Englander.
Stuart comes across to me as a very affable chap, one who I could quite happily spend an afternoon with on some veranda, having a nice long cool beer and chewing the fat about life. One thing is for sure, Stuart knows how to tell a story so effortlessly. He is a talent very much appreciated around here and like the others is very supportive of Illumination. Thank you, Stuart, for gracing us with your literary presence.
Matt Lillywhite is a highly prolific writer, the man is a machine. I don’t know if he finds time to eat or sleep. He too is highly supportive of Illumination and is well known by all the editorial staff. What’s more he always finds time to read and comment upon the writings of others like myself. Thank you for that Matt. It is appreciated. But most of all, thank you for your writings, like the one below.
Remington Write I have written an article about already, but just in case you missed it do go take a stroll around the park or maybe even dance a few steps with this very talented writer. You will get to the end without even having realised it. Like the other writers, I could easily spend some quality time with Remington musing on whatever takes our fancy. I really like the easy going, free spirited style of Remington and hope to read a whole lot more.
And it would be highly remiss of me not to mention Henery X (long) who is a shining light of such brilliance that it reaches far and wide within Illumination and beyond. His word have deeply impressed me with is positivity, optimism and a deeply felt belief that if we could all only reach out and connect and all work to the common aim of our humanity, then the world would be a far better place. Thank you Henery.
Yet another writer who has left a lasting impression is non other than S M Mamunur Rahman. Here is a writer who not only contributes interesting, well written articles, but one who does so in his second language. As somebody who also speaks a second language, in my case Spanish, I can tell it is not easy, let alone to do it well.
Thewriteyard is also a writer who writes from the heart. She has written some lovely stories which I found really touching, like the story of a hidden away violin. As an introduction take a look at this wonderful poem.
And finally, here's one of our very own editors Sumera Rizwan who wrote a brilliant piece about what it's like behind the scenes in the editorial department. So if you are one of those writers who wonders what happens to your carefully crafted masterpiece once you let that baby go off to submissions, here is the inside story.
We all so want our readers to have as diverse and pleasurable a reading experience as possible, as well as to support the wonderful writers who regularly contribute unstintingly to Illumination, I am minded to make this a regular feature.
