A Special Letter to My Trusted Followers

To Those Who Were Moved by What I Wrote

The cover page to my front page on Medium. Author’s image.

When I first started writing on Medium last Aug. 4, 2021, I had no idea how all-consuming this would become. But I think all writers probably feel the same. When you are a reader and a writer, these sorts of things fall into place. What I mean is readers read and writers write. So, we are very comfortable in this space we found in the social stratosphere.

This isn’t like Facebook where we are engaging instantly with other people who are posting pictures and tidbits of information. No, we spend a great deal of time thinking about what we will write about, then creating the structure for what we will write. We dig through pages and pages of copyright-free images, searching for that exact right one to go with our story or stories. Then we do it again and again, to ensure we have three or four images just for one story.

We dedicate time to read the material of other writers and that is a task within itself. I set aside specific time just to read others’ material because you can’t grow an organic audience without truly engaging in their material. You might not read the entire article or story, but you must spend time on it. I’m not just talking about highlighting where others have highlighted. But actually, reading and specifically commenting on what you read. We do that. In my view, that’s how you grow an organic audience.

To me, there’s no race to gather the largest number of followers or subscribers, but I want everyone who has read my material or who reads it in the future to subscribe by clicking on the below link card:

I engage with everyone who subscribes to me, and you are, in fact, my primary audience members. Those who follow me are also my major focus. That means I search through my reply section to ensure I read what you wrote and reply to you. Then, I go to your page and read one of your articles. I am also on the lookout for anytime you publish a story. That’s the least I can do to ensure you receive a jump in read-time. But mostly, I want you to feel the love.

So, I created this video for you. It’s only a 00:1:15 but I thought you would, and I hope you can appreciate where I am coming from when I say thank you personally.

There are so many followers, 1,715 to be exact as of today, I don’t want to type all of you. You are, however, no less important to me, that I didn’t type your name. But I want to get back to writing. I hope that we can share this story with others so they will see the video. But I will also push this out again and eventually get this in front of the eyes of everyone who were kind enough to write me a note, reply, read, clap, and otherwise engage. I appreciate you all and I think we all appreciate one another.

The great thing is ‘growth of audience’ doesn’t stop. Each day, our audience members continue to grow and that means your writing is touching your readers. I have an article entitled, “Nothing Gets Created Without Someone First Writing It.” That’s you. It’s not linked because it’s not finished. Once I finish it, you will be the first to receive it, because you subscribe to my material. Thank you again!
