A Space Opera
Otherwise known as Star Wars
The Space Opera known throughout the known land as Star Wars has been a part of our lives in one context or the other for as long as it was made. For me, Star Wars is just as a classic as Indiana Jones (Which I will be writing about in another post). Recently I finally watched, Season Two of the Mandalorian from Disney+ which immediately prompted a rewatch of Season 1 of The Mandalorian.
When people were first told that Disney had bought the rights to the Star War’s franchise, and they had already planned both a continuation of the movies and a stand-alone series for their up-and-coming Disney subscription service, everyone, including me had their doubts.
Disney not only rebooted the movies in a way that still gave justice and an ending to all the old characters, but they also gave us a new enemy to hate (and love) and an even more lovable trio. While I could spend this post just discussing my love for everything about the new Star Wars reboot, my main point is how beautifully they tied in The Mandalorian with Boba Fett in the most recent episode.
Also for those who haven’t watched it yet, this post is about to get seriously spoilery!
In the most recent episode not only did we get an explanation for the sudden appearance of the armor that The Marshal wore in an earlier episode, but of the death of one of my favorite actresses that appeared in season one. Yes, that’s right Ming-Na Wen back to reprise her role as Fennick a bounty hunter that the Mandalorian had left for dead in season one.
My favorite part of her reappearance is the fact that her savior was the one the only, Boba Fett. Which to me is amazing. I love it when we get answers to the Star Wars films instead of more questions. (We still don’t know what Finn was going to tell Rey in the cave)
Not only did Boba Fett return but he joined The Mandalorian in a special mission to retrieve Grogu. I also love the fact that we are finally getting answers to who Baby Yoda really is. The fact that they actually show that The Mandalorian is making a whole new crew, fetch his adopted foundling is my favorite thing ever. I’d be happier if Cara joined. I really hope she can take time off of being a Marshall. The fact that we get even more screen time of Ming Na Wen being all kinds of a badass is a win in my book.
Disney to me is just showing that not only are they taking the Star Wars plot to heart, but they are also making it even better with both the storylines and the different introductions to new and old characters.
I can’t wait to see next week's episode, so I guess I will have to settle for yet another rewatch of The Mandalorian that never upsets. The fact that they are already showing how the Empire is reemerging is amazing to me. I think with this show, it is completely possible that we might even see how the First Order came to be.
