A little Neil Diamond

“I am”… I cried “I am”… said I And I am lost and I can’t Even say why Leavin’ me lonely still

Neil Diamond, I Am, I Said

As a young, angst-ridden teenager, this song resonated so well with me. I felt like Neil Diamond was describing me and my life so well — just begging to be recognized and no longer so lonely.

Now as an adult, I see this song in a more spiritual light. His ‘I Am’ statement is a declaration of Beingness — a soul longing for the Divine’s grace. This song now makes my heart sing and feels me with joy.

I had the good fortune to see Neil in concert in the mid-90s. Best birthday present ever!
