A Smile That Made My Day
Time may have come and gone, but some things remain the same

I visited a small family business that I frequently supported before my leave of absence from the workforce. Now that I have started work again, I stopped by this family business to continue to support them. Parking in front of the building was nostalgic. It brought back many memories of the times I visited while I stared through the glass doors. I couldn’t see anyone inside. It took a few steps to make it to the front door, and before my hand could tap the bell on the desk, the owner appeared with my items in his hand. What left a lasting impression on me was his smile. I had not seen him in a few years.
“You remember me?” I asked.
“Of course, I remember you. I am so happy to see you!”
I couldn’t believe he remembered me after all this time. I left with one of the biggest smiles on my face. Sometimes we are unaware of the impressions we leave on others. He missed seeing my face and our short interactions. You don’t have to do much to be kind. Kindness goes both ways. It’s not very difficult to make me smile, but I sure couldn’t wipe the smile off my face for the whole day. I continued to share it with everyone else I interacted with that day. I can’t thank him enough for how he made me feel.
