A single change in my daily life, leading to multiple benefits
My September Experiment
Every month, I enjoy trying new things to enhance my daily life. It’s like setting out on a little adventure.
I select an activity to try, give it a shot, and assess its impact on my routine. Afterward, I reflect on how it went and decide whether to continue with it.
For the past few months, I’ve been taking on various monthly challenges, and you can find the list of these challenges here.
These initiatives serve as my way of seeking solutions to current issues I wish to address.
This September, I’ve made a simple change, visiting the library five times a week, approximately 21 days in total.
Let me explain how this simple change can significantly affect my daily life.
1. Uninterrupted Time: When I work from home, I often get interrupted by shh🤫. Going to the library helps me avoid these interruptions.
2. Healthy Snacking: At home, I often find myself snacking as we all have 24*7 open pantry. By limiting my snacks and bringing healthier choices to the library, I can better care for my body.
3. Time Management: Visiting the library at a fixed time forces me to efficiently complete other household tasks. Don’t forget that I am a full-time homemaker😅, so it helps me plan meals, cook on time, eat when I should, and take care of chores like cleaning and organizing.
4. Optimal Wake-up: I used to rely on alarms to wake up, but now I wake up when my body feels fully rested. Upon waking, I follow one of two morning routines: a quick one when I’m running late and a more extended one when I have extra time. Both routines incorporate exercise, personal time, fresh air, and a deliberate avoidance of using my phone for several hours after waking up.
5. Reduced TV and Phone Usage: I wont mindlessly watch YouTube or television while at the library, reserving these activities for weekends or leisure time. Also, I limit my social media scrolling on my phone, which enhances my ability to concentrate.
Note, I have deleted 3–4 apps from my phone to further reduce distractions.
6. Guilt-Free Weekends: By maintaining productivity during the week, I can indulge in enjoyable activities on the weekends without any sense of guilt.
By the way, the library is just a short 3–4-minute drive from my home and is free of charge.
Focusing on this one aspect ensures that everything else in my daily routine flows more smoothly (at least, I hope so).
As I write this article, I am at the library on my second day, and I enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with getting things done.
I hope you find the solution you’re seeking for your current challenges.
One step at a time…
