Summary

A simple act of kindness, such as helping an elderly woman cross the street, can set off a chain of positive events leading to significant global improvements, exemplifying the butterfly effect.

Abstract

The article illustrates how a small gesture of kindness can have far-reaching impacts on the world. It begins with an individual assisting an elderly woman, which improves her mood and leads to her treating her son more kindly. The son, an IT professional, then solves a complex algorithm for a traffic management app, which upon release, reduces traffic jams and enhances the daily lives of many. This narrative serves as a metaphor for the butterfly effect, emphasizing that even the smallest actions can catalyze substantial change. The story underscores the potential of individual actions to contribute to a better world, inspiring readers to consider the broader implications of their kindness.

This article is a story. A simple wake up call for you. It can lead to something much bigger though. It can lead to someone taking meaningful action about a matter, unknown to you, on the other side of the world.

This story might be small, but please understand the analogy I'm creating for you.

We all know what the butterfly effect is. The flap of the wings of a butterfly can create a hurricane on the other side of the Earth.

Let me present to you a better example. A more realistic one.

You start your day normally. You meet people. Some of them work in the same environment as you and some others are passing by. There’s an elder woman trying to cross the street. You decide to help her. You are gentle to her and brighten her day.

In her life, this woman is considered nervous. She often yells at her child, a 30-year-old IT guy. This guy is frustrated emotionally because of that. The blame goes to his mother, for upsetting him. He lacks focus.

But not that day. That day, she is happier than usual. She had her day brighten from you! She comes to her son, gives him a tight warm hug. He is feeling nice.

He has a Zoom meeting, about an app they are building with some colleagues. The app is about time management for traffic lights. Due to his great mood, he is not feeling frustrated today. He finds finally the solution to an algorithm they couldn't figure out.

After months, they finally release the final product. It’s a success. Not only for them but for the world. Now, people don't get mad at traffic jams because this problem got solved. From a single algorithm that manages traffic lights better.

You helped a woman cross the street. She brightened her son’s day. He created an app for the world. The world got better.

Plenty of individuals will now have a better day. They will help other people with simple gestures too, for that reason. Maybe they will end up being great on their own because their mind is in a better state than before.

A chain of events can lead to a better world. And this was the simplest of examples I could present to you.

Remember, one person can change the world, indeed.
