A Show of Force; Democracy Held by a Thread
Insurrection in America

In Tuesday’s House committee testimony. Liz Cheney asked Cassidy Hutchinson why the President wanted to go to the Capital building during the riot. Then she asked, what did he plan to do there?
Let’s say Trump was able to go to the Capital building surrounded by his loyalists with guns. It was the plan, after all.
After his speech on the Ellipse, Trump got into the car and then was told by secret service they were not taking him to the Capital building. He could have walked, but that would involve walking several blocks. It’s damn impossible for him; and apparently the thought never occurred to him.
There are Federal rules preventing a President from coming into the Congressional building. What exactly were Trump’s intentions?
Remember when during the second impeachment trial we learned the rioters had obtained building schematics prior to storming the Capital building? How do you suppose they obtained these schematics?
The plan was a show of force. Remember, he idolizes dictators like Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin.
Trump wanted to look tough. And angry. Well, we already know he is angry and vindictive. At best, bringing his minions with him to the Capital with guns was just to put more pressure on a tenuous situation.
We already know he likes to add kindling to all the fires he starts.
We know he planned to make a speech at the Capital, most likely halfway up the steps. He needed to take a breather, and it would be the perfect photo-op. There he is-fighting for the little guy’s vote against all those nasty data points saying he lost.
Most likely he planned to go into the building without resistance. After all he is the f___ing President of the United States. Most likely he’d go into the hall as chaos was taking place. Remember, several GOP loyalists including representative Jim Jordan were already standing up and contesting the votes.
This was also part of the plan.
Picture this…it would be shocking to see the President of the United States arrive with an armed militia. It would be a show stopper.
He will say, “I alone can fix this.” Then he will spin a few lies and actively prevent the vote from continuing and thus keep Joe Biden from being announced President. Somehow the ballots will be “lost” and we end up in a Constitutional crisis. The Supreme Court will have to make a ruling in Trump’s favor and we have a Judicial coup.
This is the best-case scenario.
More likely, there would be a forced entry, like we witnessed on live TV, as men with weapons broke into the hallowed halls and defiled the building. But this time, Trump would be with them, encouraging them to fight for him. The violence would be escalated immediately as the leaders of our country ran for their lives.
When his misguided followers started shooting Congressional members, who would be able to shoot back-since the President of the United States was there, standing with them?
What would the loyal men of the Secret Service detail do then? They are sworn to protect the man, so would they shoot Capital police to protect the President? Would they die trying to protect him?
How many of our leaders, including the Vice President, would have died that day?
January 6th could have been a bloodbath. It is indeed what Mark Meadows was referring to when he told Ms. Hutchinson, “It might get real, real bad.” He absolutely knew Trump had called his armed militia to the Capital building to take over the proceedings.
“That evening was the first I remember feeling scared and nervous with what could happen on January 6th,” said Cassidy Hutchinson in her recent House committee testimony.
Just a note, remember that Trump’s solution to the peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters was to have the National Guard shoot them. Cooler heads had to talk him out of that one.
After the initial bloodbath was over, Trump would make another speech. Perhaps he would call for calm, and say his supporters just got out of hand. Or perhaps he would anger the rioters even more by saying they would continue to hold the Capital building.
How long could this standoff go? How long would our leaders be hiding in closets with forks for defense before they ran out of food and water?
Many qualified and knowledgeable people in the media and inner circle of the White House have said Trump was hoping the insurrection caused enough chaos he could declare martial law. Therefore, the votes would never be tallied and Biden would never be President.
Surely, if this scenario happened, there would have been chaos in the streets of America. In every town and city. Just imagine war in the streets of your neighborhood.
As scary as these potential scenarios are, I haven’t presented the worst one yet. Wherever Trump goes, the nuclear “football” goes with him. Just visualize if he went into the Capital with the “football” only feet from him…surrounded by angry armed loyal supporters… possibly taking our leaders hostage at gunpoint…
I am talking about the leader of the free world, with the National Guard, the entire US military and countless nuclear missles at his disposal.
We already knew Trump was unhinged months before the election. We already learned from his inner circle Trump had no reservations about using nuclear bombs on enemies. It’s not a great stretch to think he would use the ultimate weapon immediately at his disposal.
Trump would be cornered, and when cornered he always, always comes out fighting. Would he have started Armageddon?
My observations say somone(s) in Trumps inner circle also realized this potential scenario and put up a few roadblocks, not to mention weapon detectors, to prevent escalation. Like Mr. Cipollone, they realized, “People are going to die and the blood will be on your hands."
Our lives, our democracy and our world are blessed the January 6th plans were thwarted. We know why, the question is who?
GOP Rep. Liz Cheney-source CNN
“We are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before — and that is a former President who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional Republic. And he is aided by Republican leaders and elected officials who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.”
“No party and no people and no nation can defend and perpetuate a constitutional republic if they accept a leader who’s gone to war with the rule of law, with the democratic process, or with a peaceful transition of power, with the Constitution itself,” Cheney said.
“The full picture is coming into view” of Trump’s actions thanks to the January 6 committee’s nearly year-long investigation. “It has become clear that the efforts Donald Trump oversaw and engaged in were even more chilling and more threatening than we could have imagined,” Cheney said.
