LOVE AND HOPE IN DIFFICULT TIMES
A Root’s Fate
Free verse

“Time is distance but love is a bridge” ― Nicole Bonomi
Bleeding roots and some Roots in eternal autumn Unaware of their destiny Unpolished gems surface After an endangered life Offer an intriguing presence To enhance our appetites And a flavor to savor the bite A relish or an elegant dish Baked, roasted, steamed or raw Not partaking in pretenses An image in a dream of Blossoming roses from The depths of the root’s heart
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. William Shakespeare

Carolyn Hastings — I appreciate all your support, and your presence here is appreciated. Your well-being should be a top priority since we cannot do without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Paper Poetry’s September prompt is available below for anyone interested in participating.
Sherry Atkinson is right (last line — “ lovers’ dreams really can come true”) in her gentle poem, Slumber, The Dream Bearer.
And Carolyn Hastings is also correct — Love Never Fails.
Thank you all (the list is very long to mention here) for supporting me on my journey here on Medium®️ and setting aside time to encourage me.
Please pardon my messy food art of a radish that turned into a rose seated on a cucumber pedestal, and I cannot recollect how some avocado paste got on the petals. I was engrossed in making it look like a rose and unaware of the environment. Reflecting on the avocado paste, the life of a root is in the messy dirt. And I will stop here; I will mercifully spare you all.
