A Right-Wing Liberal Democrat Stole My Tweet.

And I don’t like it!

Yes, you read that right, I logged on yesterday and got the shock of my life! A wannabe politician had retweeted one of my pieces and used it to beg for votes for himself and for people to join his party the Liberal Democrats at the upcoming 2022 Federal Election in Australia.

On seeing it I felt dirty, used even.

Now, before you non-Australians get too excited, the Liberal Democrats are a bunch of right-wing crazies that live on the fringe, they’re neither liberal nor democratic. In fact, they’re hard right, anti-vaxing, climate change denying, environmental vandals who at the last election polled only .24% of the total vote. In Australia, the Liberal Party (current Federal government — 30% of the vote) is the conservative party of the right.

The Australian Labor Party (ALP — 33% of the vote) are the party of the left.

On the left with them are the Greens Party (10% of the vote) and some Independents.

On the hard right, we have the National Party (Farmers Party — 4% of the vote), One Nation (extreme hard right-wing racist party — 2%), Australia United Party (owned and run by a Billionaire coal miner to help keep his mines open — 3%), plus the brain surgeons that shared my tweet.

If every party ran separately the ALP would win every election, hands down — BUT — the Liberals love power so they did a deal with the National Party and formed a coalition called the LNP, just so they can stay in power. Oh, and not act on things like climate change, refugees, the housing crisis, marriage equality, the pandemic, the vaccine rollout, inflation, rising petrol prices…..need I go on?

So what do you do when one of your pieces gets shared by the very people it was aimed at embarrassing?

Surely, the guy who shared it checked my profile and other tweets and articles first and realised that we are diametrically opposed in every way, scientifically and politically.

Obviously, he didn’t read this before hitting send. It’s a strange world we’re living in at the moment, made all the stranger by these daft men in suits who can’t even name their own political party correctly, let alone realise that what they’re sharing on social media is actually aimed at them, not supporting them. These right-wing liberal democrats are neither liberal nor democratic — they’re just a bunch of suits “thinking” people will fall for their lies and vote for them. As I wrote in the tweet, it’s not a pool of talent on the right, it’s a puddle!
