A Rich Idiot Or a Poor Sage — Which Would You Listen to About Success?
A lesson in law of attraction

Most people reading this will probably opt for the poor sage. The sage is wise and therefore it is better to listen to wisdom. But just because the idiot is an idiot doesn’t mean good stuff cannot come from him. If you pick any of the two, there is something you missed. There is a hidden question.
The Hidden Question
Most people look for the secret of success outside themselves. This is why they keep hitting a wall with every accomplishment.
Everybody outside you only offers a perspective. Both the poor sage and the rich idiot. You can pick something from everything they say. But the wisdom you need to thrive, that specific wisdom, is in you.
Your job is to recognize and embrace what is in harmony with it. It is never about what the sage says or what the idiot says. It is about what is in you.
Think about this. If someone calls you a moron and you know they are wrong, it won’t bother you one bit. You will just smile and walk away. But if it hits a nerve, you will probably throw a fit right there.
People forget that when they respond, they affirm what they are called. Someone once said that there is a king and a fool in every man — the one you speak to is the one that responds.
If you speak to the fool in a person, the fool in the person responds (foolishly, of course). If you speak to the king in a man, the king responds (royally, of course).
So, it is never about who is speaking. It is always about who is listening.
Steps to Greatness
There is an Eastern proverb that says that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I have found this to be very true. Also, when the student has learned the lesson, the teacher will disappear.
The situation you resent will keep following you everywhere you go until you stop resenting it
This is the curse of life. What you feel strong emotional ties towards, you attract. It doesn’t matter if the ties are negative or positive. Anger and bitterness will attract as strongly as love and obsession. But this is where it begins.
We mostly concentrate our love and obsession on something far away. We put it on something that our hands can’t reach. And trying to reach it becomes our life’s adventure.
But anger and bitterness are often directed at something close to us. Something close to home. Something we see every day. So, it is easier for these things to get multiplied and become abundant in our lives. While the things we love and want seem unreachable.
Here is a little sage advice to help…
Non-Resistance
Attracting more of what you want in life has very little to do with visualizing more or meditating more. Most people already do enough of those things. The problem is that they keep sending mixed signals.
You cannot attract what you want when you hate what you have
Making peace with where you are is key. You have to stop the hate, bitterness, and anger towards the things around you today that you don’t like or want.
In other words, don’t hate what you don’t want. Most people think that the more they hate where they are, the closer they are to where they are going. Not true.
If you have the power to change where you are and hating it is a catalyst to using that power, then that is productive. But you must be fast. Hate it, change it. Instantly. Don’t stay too long there.
But if you don’t have the capacity to change what you are stuck with (that you don’t like), then you have to play by the eternal rules if you want to get what you want. You have to not hate it.
This doesn’t mean you have to love it. However, it will be very good if you grow to love it. If you love it, this doesn’t mean it will stick with you for life. It only means that better versions of it will keep sliding into your life.
The best way to upgrade what you have is to love it. Love and desire go together. Love recognizes desire and draws things faster.
But let’s say you can’t love it. It is annoying. Very much annoying. What you can do is be completely non-resistant. Become indifferent.
If you can just stop the negative energy (emotions) flowing toward the things you dislike, your attraction force will double in strength.
Love the things you love. Become indifferent to the things you hate. And always remember that desire is greater than love in its influence on pulling things toward you.
Now, some idiot advice…
Don’t Think, Just Do
Too many people are seeking permission to be who they want to be. They are looking for the qualification to go after what they want. Just isolate what you want and go for it.
Seems simple. And stupid too. But it works. And yes, it fails too. Napoleon Hill says in his famous book that rich people make decisions very fast and change them very slowly. Meanwhile, unsuccessful people make decisions very slowly and change them very fast.
When we say we want to consider a decision, in most cases, we do not have all the context to consider it. Let me illustrate;
If someone shows you two doors — Door A and Door B. And they say, behind one of those doors is a million dollars. Pick one.
It is excruciating pain to try to logically decipher which door it is. No matter your analysis, it still comes down to a game of chance. So, why waste time?
Just pick a door in 3 seconds and if it’s the wrong door, forget about it quickly. The pain of picking the wrong door is excruciating when you spend 3 hours trying to analyze and scrutinize which door has the million dollars.
Just pick and move on.
Conclusion
Listen to the poor sage. Listen to the rich idiot. Discard all the junk stuff that is not in harmony with who you are and where you want to be.
Embrace the good stuff that is in harmony with who you plan to be. Don’t hate where you are — become non-resistant.
And when it comes to a game of chance, just pick fast and move on.
Cheers.
