A Recap of My NFL Playoff Predictions and a Look Towards Next Weekend

Oops….I only went 3–3 during Wildcard Weekend

At least the dog is happy, unlike Dallas Cowboys fans. It seems like I’ve been watching the same season for the past three years. Cowboys beat up on bad teams, and then they get killed when it matters in the playoffs.

Anyway, let’s move on to a recap of each game in the NFL Wildcard Round.

Cleveland Browns 14 @ Houston Texans 45

Being forced to start a backup QB isn’t a recipe for success in the playoffs. The Browns soon found that out by getting blown out 45–14 to the Texans. I picked Houston to win this game, but I had no idea it would be so one-sided.

Miami Dolphins 7 @ Kansas City Chiefs 26

Playing in frigid conditions is never fun, especially for a Miami team. The weather conditions and the experience of the Chiefs were just too much for the Dolphins to overcome. The Chiefs will have a tougher matchup next week in Buffalo.

Pittsburgh Steelers 17 @ Buffalo Bills 31

The game was postponed to Monday afternoon due to all of the snow. Once again, playing with a backup QB makes it next to impossible to win. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is also on the hot seat. It will be interesting to see if he is still coaching in Pittsburgh by the end of the week.

Green Bay Packers 48 @ Dallas Cowboys 32

What a joke of a game and a franchise. The Dallas Cowboys win the honor for being the most overrated team in the league again. It’s time for a new coach, and they should also start looking for a new QB once Dak Prescott’s contract runs out next year.

Los Angeles Rams 23 @ Detroit Lions 24

I felt this game could go either way, and it was the only competitive game of the weekend. It’s nice to see the Lions win a playoff game for the first time in forever. Detroit also has a great chance of winning next week against the Bucs.

Philadelphia Eagles 9 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers 32

The only bright spot of the playoffs was seeing the Eagles lose to a bad Buccaneers team. Both the Eagles and Cowboys made their 9–8 opponents look like Super Bowl contenders. I have no idea why the Eagles collapsed over the last month. It will be interesting to see if they keep their head coach.

I went 3–3 with my predictions. I picked all the AFC games correctly and all of the NFC games wrong. Good thing I didn’t bet any money on these games!

Here is the playoff schedule for next week with my always accurate predictions in bold.

Saturday, January 20, 2024

Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens

Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, January 21, 2024

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Detriot Lions

Kansas City Chiefs @ Buffalo Bills

The Ravens should beat the Texans, but anything can happen in the playoffs. The 49ers are also heavily favored against the Packers. Detroit has a great shot at beating the Bucs at home. The Chiefs and Bills game will be the most competitive, but I give the Bills a slight advantage due to them playing at home.
