PROMPT RESPONSE: IT’S ALL ABOUT A SIGNPOST

A Postcard from the Moon

With phallic symbols

Postcard from the moon. Combination Digital Art, AI & Illustration — Raine Lore

When Ann James announced an artwork contest and tagged me in, I got all excited and jumped right on board. The details are in her attached post. I’m never sure if I have Ann’s meaning completely clear, but this time, I think I’ve got it.

I just have to redraw her signpost any way I choose, keeping the place names as she wrote them.

Then, create a postcard following the titles below. Ann probably thought I would write a postcard from Queensland, but I didn’t — I don’t like doing what is expected of me. The poem is also my idea.

Ann James original Artwork for the prompt. Is it just me, or is there something phallic about this?

Handwritten note on the card:

The weather is gloomy, Wish there was air!

Top left corner:

Is the moon a good place to live?

If you like barren, waterless, and airless, the moon is the place for you. You could apply for squatters’ rights — try Russia, the USA, and India; they should be able to sort you out.

I recommend Queensland, Australia. The moon does, too! (Not sure about Russia, the USA, and India).

A small poem to seal the deal:

We crashed upon the bloody moon In a craft that wasn’t sound. At first — it was a lot of fun, To jump and bounce around.

But very soon, we wore right out, So, we staked ourselves out prone To lie upon the barren soil And wish we’d stayed at home.

A sturdy signpost towering tall Announced some tourist places, And I would give an awful lot To see some earthly faces.

Please — send a sturdy capsule, For my journey back to earth, I will pay a billion bucks For just a single berth!

Look, I hate goodbyes, too. But sometimes we need them just to survive. — Rachel Caine
