A Poem on Paper
Outside my comfort zone
This pen on paper — foreign to the touch — these not-young fingers accustomed to cool keyboard plastic, sharp effortless black on back-lit screens.
One tap — mistakes disappear — not these confusing line-thrus and pigeon scratchings.
Can you read any of this?
My ineptitude on display — writing-challenged hands, older than computers but younger than pens and paper.
Too far from synonym suggestions — How do you spell synonym?? I’m mind-melded to Microsoft, dictionary.com, and Wikipedia — my brain unable to function alone in a pen-and-paper world.
Even though I am of the older generation, I haven’t written with pen and paper, other than quickly jotted notes, for many years. This real-writing was more challenging than you would imagine for a woman who qualifies for Social Security! Still, I’m willing to give it a try — every now and then.
