A Pious Date — My Tarot Session With Lord Shiva

When Lord Shiva becomes the reader and guides us on how to live a happy and blessed life.

Sitting at my desk, sipping hot Masala Tea post a scrumptious breakfast, as I scrolled through new reads on Medium, I thought what do I write today?

Think, thinking and thought!

Yes, a sudden flash, a brilliant idea came to me as my eyes went to the left. There lay my deck of Tarot cards. Mind you, these are not the usual tarot card but the ones that give messages from the Divine.

So as usual, just like what’s my New Normal these days – I decided to call upon Lord Shiva to do this session with me.

Are you thinking that he is going to come in person to pull out the card for me? Well who knows, he might in one out of his many avatars.

So I started setting up the table and building the ambience for A Pious Date with Lord Shiva.

I spread a pretty cloth on the table, as you always open tarot cards over that. Lit an Oudh candle and pulled out the chair on the opposite end, waiting for Lord Shiva to arrive.

Meanwhile, I freshened up once again and sat on my chair. Opened the deck of tarot cards, shuffled them and spread them out. Tried to close my eyes … yes tried to, because for me it’s the most difficult thing to do once I’m up. Nevertheless, I did so for a couple of seconds and joining my hands, called upon Lord Shiva to come and do the needful.

All of a sudden, a strong whiff of air came across and I opened my eyes wondering what had happened? My hubby had put on the ceiling fan at full speed and the moment I realised that I screamed- “ Darling, please put the fan off as the tarot cards are spread on the table and I don’t want them to fly off.”

Soon, I looked at the spread cards and luckily they were all there. Hold on- I looked carefully again and guess what, with such a high-speed fan being turned on and off, only One Card had flipped out from the deck, turned over and had come towards my side of the table.

To me this was surprising, and I asked my hubby what his view was. He too wondered, as no other card had flipped or for that matter even moved slightly.

Looking perplexed he asked me “ Geetika, who were you calling to do the tarot with?” I replied, “ I had invocated Lord Shiva for this session.” With a big grin on his face, he said – “ I think Lord Shiva heard your prayer and has pulled out the card for you.”

Think, thinking and thought, once more…

And I had my answer, I was a hundred per cent sure that it was Lord Shiva in his omnipresent form, who came with the air and pulled out just one card and went.

So I closed my eyes once again for a moment to thank him for his blessing before I read the card.

The card was the one that signifies “Change”. And I shall explain to you in-depth what it means.

As we know, most of us get extremely uncomfortable when faced with any minor or major change in our daily routine or in life.

This is so because we are habituated to our surroundings, accustomed to our very own comfort zones and thus we fear any moment of change be it change of job, house, relationships etc.

So can I ask you to do some reflection for a minute? Think back and let me know if ever you experienced any progress in life with a change?

According to me, it is impossible, because change is mandatory in every phase of life. It is a natural phenomenon that makes things happen.

Don’t you know that even the daily day and night cycle occurrence is due to a change in direction of the earth, based on its rotation?

So Lord Shiva, through this card of change, I feel is giving us an important message.

He is telling us that nothing in life nothing is permanent since change is inevitable. I feel he stresses the point that we should never resist change. Rather we should accept whatever change we face happily just like we accept the seasons changing. In the same manner, never forget that people change as well as our situations. Our choices change too. Do you know that at times just a small change in attitude or thinking of a person brings about a major impact in the life of that person?

Have you ever experienced change – especially the unhappy ones and the nuances that come with it? Isn’t it so that in those. tough and difficult times all you wish to do is look forward to a happy change happening soon. One then only wishes for a change from darkness towards light, negativity to positivity, fear to hope, complaints to compassion, pain to healing and lastly hate to love.

Lord Shiva says – One should aim for being happy and satisfied, in whatever phase in life accepting it and that it will change soon for what’s best. Only then with acceptance can one move forward in life.

And with that last message, ended my pious tarot date with Lord Shiva.
