A Perfect Day
Today I spent the day near the cabin next to the stream that I have picked out to fish.
The morning sun is just appeared rising across the mountains painting the sky and hills with the colors of the season. My whole being is aroused with the beauty of the trees and all the colors of gold and red leaves still hanging from the branches and the ones covering the ground below.
I began to take the path down to the stream along the way I am greeted by the creatures making their way also to the stream below. I am reminded again I am not the only one making my way to the stream. I am now careful making my steps to avoid interfering with their journey.
Finally, my destination is within reach. I smell the morning dew and the sounds of birds and fish splashing in the water looking for food. I step into the clear blue water for a moment taking in the beauty of this place.
This place where time for a moment stands still. No noise of human sounds to spoil the moment. I bait my fly rod and make the sweet sound of the line in the stream.
I look down the stream and notice a deer making its way for a morning drink. I am again reminded I am not alone. The sounds of the morning are again broken with the arrival of the mallard ducks making a perfect landing to the water below.
I think to myself I must be in heaven at this moment. The day is perfect no fish did I catch this day. What I caught today was a picture of heaven on earth for me.
I make my way back to the cabin to ponder the beauty of all the things I enjoyed today.
