A Pair of Valentine Ducks Reminded Me of Love Once Again

I observed the romantic pair at twilight near the pond

I just packed up my guitar to go back home when I saw two ducks on a romantic date near the pond at the park. It was a really cute scene. I felt embarrassed that these two ducks had a romantic date this fine Valentine's evening when I didn’t have anyone.

I just finished playing the guitar under the tree at golden hour, which was a very beautiful scene that I recommend anyone do whether single or not. It was very spiritual to say the least and I feel like playing the guitar outside is very cathartic to the soul.

Anyway, I found these two ducks canoodled by the pond’s edge basking in the twilight on what I imagined being a candle-lit dinner for two like in Lady and the Tramp. The male duck was on the outside of the edge protecting his lady duck. He looked very majestic in his masculinity as he cuddled his her. I remembered Mom and dad being so close and wishing to be their waiter to bring them their spaghetti meal, but I joked to myself that I could never do that because I don’t speak “Duckish.”

So, I walked home thinking about the romantic scene.

With my guitar on my shoulder, I thought about all the other animals like Animal Farm and what they might speak. Cats might speak Meowish, dogs might speak Barkish, and birds — well there are so many different species of birds with sounds that might be their own dialects. I guess parrots speak English, but that depends on where their owners live because Brazilian parrots might speak Portuguese, lol.

I feel it is necessary to record all of these anecdotes that occur to me while I am still single so that I can remember them later when I have kids.

Kids have very active imaginations, you know. I imagine they might ask questions like these, and I, as their mother have to know the answer. I will encourage my children to always be creative and ask questions no matter how silly they sound. I feel adults lose their wonder for curiosity, so I allow myself these silly little moments to incur childlike faith inside of me for my future little ones to never lose their wonder — that’s a life lesson I once learned in church.

It’s important to have faith and never quit learning. In my faith tradition, God calls us to be like little children when we believe in his son Jesus. To surrender and always be amazed as we always learn something new every day.

May we never lose our wonder. ❤

With that said I have a pun for you.

If most North Americans are monolingual, and most Hispanics are bilingual what does that make trees?
