A Painting in Snow

A picturesque poem revealing the beauty and stillness of a snow day

Looking from my little patio, I saw a wondrous sight below. The whole earth was covered in sheets of snow like a frosted cake in a special glow. Snow had painted my yard in white!

The snow removers were at work since the early hours of the day, scooping the snow out of the way, digging roads, going round and round. quilting the ground in black and white — long black sketches amidst blocks of snow. They sprawled everywhere, narrow and thin like the veins on my beloved’s skin.

I looked at the picture once again This time drinking in every bit of it. In the glorious light of the afternoon sun The trees put on a silvery tint. Was it a painting before my eyes? Or did I wake up in a wonderland? Then I heard a mysterious noise. The playful wind kept rattling on The ice crumbled and fell off the trees, crashing onto the cracking ground.

The scene was indeed real and true! No birds appeared to ruffle the peace All creatures seemed to have taken a break. Tucked under the blanket of snow, Nature was signaling it was time for her sleep. Even nature slows down and rests for a while! - a sublime message for the restless man.
