A New Supreme Court Justice Has Been Sworn In

You knew it was going to happen

Democrats tried to stop it until after the election

The nomination and confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett as the new Supreme Court Justice to take the place of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg have happened. She has already been sworn in. It is just as Senators Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham promised. It was almost as if they were waiting for Justice Ginsburg to die. It was known that she was ill, but they made the announcement immediately upon her death that they would push someone through before the election in November.

McConnell and Graham are part of the swamp, which Donald Trump promised to drain. They are old, White men who have been in office for a long time. They have turned out to be strong allies and supporters of Trump. They are now in close elections themselves. Democrats are hoping they will lose. That would help drain the Trump swamp.

In an article in The HIll by Dominick Mastrangelo, he said Senator Kamela Harris blasted the GOP senators for confirming Barrett. The Democratic vice presidential nominee called it a power grab. It definitely seems to have been just that as McConnell and Graham had shown themselves to be the ultimate hypocrites and liars during the process.

Barrett was confirmed along a party-line vote. The Democrats had hoped for at least four Republicans to join them in dissenting. Senator Mitt Romney of Utah had been one that they thought might reject the confirmation along with a few others. Romney said he felt Barrett had integrity.

The Republicans wasted no time in swearing in Barrett after her confirmation. A ceremony for her was held at the White House. It was said to be just like the other super spreader event held when she was nominated after which a number of people tested positive for the coronavirus.

There did not appear to be social distancing at the event. Apparently, Barrett and her husband have previously had the coronavirus.

Since Trump and the Republicans have had the opportunity to choose three of the Supreme Court Justices, the Court is heavily conservative. Although Chief Justice Roberts sometimes sides with the Democrats, it is very lopsided.

Will justice be served or will there be injustice?

Whether or not they will be just and fair is yet to be seen. It is not likely.
