Hey, hey! Welcome to the birth announcement of “ the Advantage.”

So this is me determined to use everything I’ve learned to date to make 2022 a better year for myself and my fellow Medium writers.

After these challenging couple of years, we all need a break and some good karma, so I’ll be paying it all forward with much gratitude!

I’ve gained a lot of first-hand experience writing and running a publication on Medium in the past three years. It’s been a sweet and salty mix of pure joy and ultimate frustration. The learning curve was steep, but I can confidently say that the struggles were all worth it.

Whether you’ve been on Medium for a week or a year, you’ve noticed there’s a lot to learn if you plan to make a go of it. Medium’s tutorials are OK, but if you’re anything like me, you’ve wished for a mentor, a guru, or hell — a Jeannie in a bottle, to help you out with your burning questions!

And the worst of it — is that you don’t know — what you don’t know!

While running my publication (Boomerangs), I was constantly reminded of how difficult it is for writers on the platform to learn all the ins and outs. There are a million little nuances about writing online, and there is no “one-stop-shop” to get the whole scoop. Even seasoned journalists and award-winning authors coming to Medium have to learn how it all comes together.
