A New Orleans Woman Died During A Carjacking
Four teenagers committed the crime which killed her
The victim was a woman in her early seventies
Four teenagers in New Orleans, Louisiana, apparently thought they would have some fun and carjack a woman’s car. They may have thought the woman was an easy target because she was older. The woman likely would have let them take her car to be safe, but the incident caused her death.
Three of the teens are fifteen, and one is seventeen years old. They made a mess of their lives by the decision to steal the woman’s car. She was an innocent woman who happened to be at the wrong place when the boys decided to take a car.
Kate Feldman wrote for the New York Daily News about the story. It was titled: “Four New Orleans teens plead not guilty to murder in elderly woman’s dragging death during carjacking.”
The teenage boys are being charged as adults, but they have pleaded not guilty to the charge of second-degree murder. The 73-year-old woman died as a result of their carjacking.
The teens stole the woman’s car, but she got stuck in her seatbelt as they were speeding off. She was dragged for a block, and her arm was severed.
The District Attorney put out a statement which said that it was one of the most violent carjackings they had ever seen. The boys fled the scene in the woman’s car.
He said that trying the teenagers as adults would “ensure that these young people are appropriately held accountable for taking a life.”
The boys will face mandatory life sentences in prison if they are convicted. There will be a possibility for parole after 25 years. Their young lives are forever changed by their illegal actions.
Teenage boys should find activities in which to participate that do not involve breaking the law and hurting people. These four boys caused a woman’s death because of their criminal actions. They should have been playing sports or doing other activities which are not against the law.
It is a shame that the woman’s life was cut short and the boys will likely spend much of their lives in prison. Teenagers should know better.
Do they think they are entitled to some fun while they break the law? Apparently, they do not consider the consequences. They became criminals when they carjacked the woman’s car. Now they are murderers as well.
What a waste!
