a morning of love

I awoke this soft February morning to a salmon-colored beam of light bursting through the blinds

unapologetic, uninvited —

an enlightening notion of ambition —

7:38 a.m.

I changed from cotton to silk

and welcomed this ambition as the rest of the earth, soon turned golden, with an opened window,

folded the sheets, caressed the hair up off my skin, and grazed a soft rose-colored balm along my weary lips

My coffee poured as a bold river to the mug below

I never hesitate to dive deep within these waters

I awoke, also, my sweet girl —

her eyes glimmer of golden honey and her heart, soon turned eager, as the words good morning softly graze through my lips —

few know of this sweetness as I

as her German veins run deep of boldness and protection

I don’t wish to expose myself entirely, however,

I’ve learned the meaning of my name in another language beyond me

is butterfly

I’ve gotten her a name tag shaped in such way, so we’d always be together

Soon, I also wish to have her with me for eternity, as an etched flower resembling her month of birth — a daisy

and perhaps you may think I am a bit moronic — a stupid woman — when I tell you that she was the first of living creatures

to teach me, show me, and so freely give me unconditional love —

unapologetic, uninvited

an enlightening notion of the unanticipated

She looks at me through glimmer

she knows the mess I am capable of becoming

yet, her eyes cease to waver

Would it be so wrong to be transformed by love?

And when the inevitable takes place, will I only let her go

as deeply as I have loved her —

a mourning of love

for it was always a privilege to love Kira

If someone makes you feel, let them.
