A Morning Miracle
<Laying just-now awake and knowing her alarm is soon to go off, rolling over to watch her still closed eyes and seeing one small lash poised to fall>
<When the soft music starts>
“Good Morning Dear.”
“Mmmmmm,” she says. <With a smile and half-opened eyes>
“Hold still, … Okay, now make a wish”
<Pheeeeew; and just like that the lash is gone>
By now the music of the alarm is more like yelling than prompting, “Wow, it must think we’re dead!”
<Snooze>
“So what did you wish for?”
“If I tell you, will it still come true?”
“I’m not sure what the wish committee’s regs for 2020 say, or if they’ve even been approved yet.”
“Okay then, I wished for a miracle…”
<Big Morning Hug>
…
I’m feeling the truth of this miracle we’re sharing right here and right now. Thankfully, I tell her so, and we both feel the same.
“I love you,”
“I love you more.”
“No, you can’t.”
<The snooze setting on the alarm reminds us to go start the day>
