The Monster Ball
A Monster Stomp through the Pumpkin Smash with Angry Monster
Could Anger be the Treasure of Monsterland?

In my Monster Managing Month, I’ve now spent a week in Fear’s company. It’s time to move from Fear’s lair in the Frightful Forest into the Pumpkin Bash, the home of Angry Monster. Anger and Fear are the two sides of the Monster Mask. While Fear Monster tries to keep YOU from doing things, Angry Monster tries to stop OTHERS from doing things.
They are both trying to protect you. Just going about it in monstrously anxious and stressful ways.
Fear stops us from moving toward others and Anger stops others from moving toward us. Others can include people, situations, actions. Fear and Anger are quite the Monster team. And working together they can keep you completely stuck.
Or as is the case when they give you their treasures, they can take care of you in surprisingly effective ways. Here’s how.
We are always going to be afraid of something. Illness, failure, standing out, financial setback, making mistakes are all part of life, and they are all things that we will encounter along our life path. Because of this lack of control, there are some people who look around to see what they can control, and they decide that is the people around them. They boss, push, nag, and do everything they can to exert their will over you to get you to do things their way.
Sometimes Anger can be used to stop this.
A good healthful Angry Monster can roar STOP. Or even just say it and mean it. Stop.
Fear Monster teamed with Angry Monster can provide the energy needed to move past threshold guardians, and push through boundaries that are holding you back. They bring the clarity and will to set boundaries, to activate forcefields to protect you as you move through these uncharted places.
Anger is a Treasure Monster. They all are of course, but Anger properly channeled can support all the others in moving past limits. Anger is pure primal energy. Fire. Life Force. A lot of life happens around Fire. The soil is regenerated, the wound is cauterized. Warmth. Heat. Light.
While Fear generally resides in our gut (and our heads of course, as many fears these days are mostly imagined,) Anger lives in the heart. It is the solar sun of your being, radiating out to provide warmth and light to the entire body. Anger can be the heart of our stellium of Monsters.
It can be the kindling fire that keeps all the other Monsters safe and warm.
Recognizing the Treasure of Monsters isn’t easy. Those voices are ones we would vanquish if we could. But acknowledging their purpose, without condoning their methods is a possibility.
They mean well. They are trying to keep you safe.
Teaming them up, these two Major Monsters can be helpful. They will temper each other and make it much easier to uncover the Treasure they bring.
Ask yourself what Treasure you seek in this visit to Monsterland.
- Do you want to step past a Fear?
- Do you want to find a channel, an outlet for Anger?
- Do you want to heal a Shame?
- Do you want to release a Jealousy?
Or just get all these Monsters to stop Procrastinating and get to work generating the health, wealth, love, and creativity that you know is possible?
For me, the Treasure I seek is to use the uncloaking device to help my Shame Monster shed her Invisibility Cloak. Fear is going to need a bit of help from Anger to step through these upcoming Thresholds and protect me from some of the energies coming toward me that make me want to hide.
I’ll need my Monsters on my side to turn their tremendous energies towards the outside world rather than turned inside on me. Inside Out is my new command for my Monsters. Anger (appropriately) radiating out instead of within. Blazing a path out into the world to be seen. Lighting the way out into the future to Write the World.

Monster Lore says that MOVING cures Anger. The Monster Taming Tool for Angry Monster is Monster Stomp. Get anger and frustrations channeled into explosive movement rather than explosive words.
Monster Stomp is the 2nd wave of dancer Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms. The 5Rhythms put the body in motion in order to calm the mind. The five rhythms (in order) are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. Staccato is an Angry Monster cure. Dancing staccato (meaning to “separate”) is taking steps with quick bursts of energy and sharp movements. Try it when Angry Monster is on the prowl.
