A Minimalist Side Hustle You Can Start Today For Free

One of my top side hustles, and my second biggest stream of passive income, is Print on Demand, also called POD for short.
What is Print on Demand?
It’s not what my best friend thought it was, he thought I would print stuff on my printer for people who didn’t have printers, although that could be another idea for a side hustle.
Print on demand is when you create a design, upload it to a marketplace (or your own e-commerce website) and it can go on thousands of different items, and for each one that sells the print on demand supplier prints and ships it directly to your customer and you collect a profit.
Items like these:
Bags
Mugs
Shirts
Shoes
Jewelry
Even Clocks!
And so many more items, there are thousands!
There are essentially two different ways to do Print on Demand.
The first is the one involving more work but also is typically more profitable. It’s when you promote your own items and once they sell you go directly (manually or automatically) to print on demand suppliers like Printful or Printify to fulfill the orders.
If you’re planning on creating a brand, or want to dominate in a specific niche and leverage your own website or social media accounts, then that’s the way forward.
The second is the one that fits the Minimalist Hustler style of side hustle. It’s when you leverage a marketplace that has its own audience and customers already, like Amazon Merch or Redbubble. The profit may be less, but there’s a lot less legwork this way.
You don’t need to have your own website or social media accounts, you don’t need to build a brand, or even focus on a specific niche. You just upload designs and collect the profits.
Here’s the simple breakdown of how to get started:
- Create a Design (Use Canva, it’s free)
- Upload it to Redbubble or Amazon Merch (Also free)
- Repeat
- Get paid for each sale, forever!
That’s what I call a passive income generating digital asset, something you own in the digital world that can earn you money forever without you needing to do anything.
It’s so simple even my kids (7 & 9) create designs on Canva for me to submit and make money, don’t worry I give them their earnings!
