A Mind That’s Open To Everything And Attached To Nothing

Frees me to allow The Universe to carry on without my assistance

Wayne Dyer has a wonderful quote about how to live this life happy, joyous, and free.

Dyer said “Simply have a mind that is open to everything but attached to nothing. Let it all come and go as it will. Enjoy it all, but never make your happiness or success dependent on an attachment to any thing, any place, and particularly, any person.

In all of your relationships, if you can love someone enough to allow them to be exactly what they choose to be — without any expectations or attachments from you — you’ll know true peace in your lifetime. True love means you love a person for what they are, not for what you think they should be. This is an open mind — and an absence of attachment.”

When I heard this idea expressed this way, I had an “Aha” moment. I had been told this using similar language many times before but it just missed hitting the nail on the head for me.

I had thought I understood this concept before but my best thinking sometimes was my downfall. I didn’t have a complete understanding of what allowing was all about.

My definition of allowing was to let something happen without interference. Although thinking this was partially true for me, I still had to put my own extra little “twist” on things which ruined what I was tweaking instead of improving it.

The Universe has done a very good job of handling a bazillion different situations at the same time for eons and all, I might add, without my assistance or direction.

What makes me feel that sometimes It needs a little boost from me? My self-centered ego needs to be reminded that The Universe has been creating and maintaining everything since time began and doing an excellent job of it.

And doing it without consulting me about any of it. Why, then, does it need assistance from a teeny-tiny part of existence like me who has only been around since 1940?

Right. It doesn’t! It does not, whether solicited or not, so it is time for me to take a chill pill and allow the right thing to happen, by letting go and letting God!

Thank you, God!

I am learning so very much about India through the beautiful word pictures of Dr. Preeti Singh. When she is in a garden, I can smell the fragrance and when in a cafe, I can taste the food. All through her words. Here she writes about a different type of school that she knows of.
