A Memorable Incident In My Life
Prompt 2 of the life column in Dancing Elephants Press
One morning dressed in wedding finery as a family we got ready to attend a relatives daughters wedding.
The day was bright and sunny. We were all cheerful. Our sons were cheerful. Sitting in the car they were happy to go to the wedding as they knew the bride well.
While driving on we were enjoying the beautiful day. Suddenly, it was odd but It happened that the sky became dark and cloudy and the clouds began to roar.
I had never seen a day like this and this sudden change from daylight to dark.
The venue was very far and by the time we drove on it started raining very heavily. It was difficult to drive through the sludge and water-filled roads as the rain went on relentlessly.
We searched for the venue as those days phones did not have the help of Google Maps and guidance. We saw no one on the roads to assist us.
We kept thinking that we would be late for the wedding.
What we saw was both a scene to laugh and cry. To be devastated and to be happy.
The family members and the community at large had brooms and mops in their hands and everyone was trying to clean the place. The rain had subsided but not stopped.
People in their fine clothes did not bother. They were humble. They were determined to help as the wedding had to go on.
A lot of already prepared food was wasted because water had seeped in it. The caterers were cooperative and started their work again.
The guests were welcomed and the wedding was on with music and the people saw some retrieved decorations.
I have never forgotten this incident in my life.
There are 2 Life lessons I learned that day:
🍀Nothing can spoil your goals in life if you have the determination to go on and do your work.
🍀Support of the community friends and family is very helpful in times of need.
