Summary

The text reflects on a woman's pattern of temporary relationships, her struggle with past heartbreaks, and the courage required for someone to love her amidst her internal chaos.

Abstract

The narrative delves into the emotional journey of a woman who frequently finds herself in transient relationships, often wondering why her lovers leave abruptly. She acknowledges her own "terrible habit" of falling for people who are only briefly in her life, ranging from weeks to a year. The author observes that her tendency to attract such relationships may stem from a deeper reason, hinting at past traumas inflicted by these fleeting romances. Despite her battles with personal demons and the "otherworldly gods" of her conscience, she remains resilient, though her life is marked by a series of unsatisfactory connections that have made her a "heartbreak connoisseur." The text suggests that beyond her fictitious smile lies a hidden beauty, waiting to be discovered by someone with the courage to look deeper and commit to loving her, despite the challenges her past presents.

Opinions

  • The author believes the woman's pattern of short-lived relationships is a defense mechanism or a result of her past experiences with lovers who have caused her pain and left her.
  • There is an underlying belief that the woman's chaotic life is a facade masking a profound beauty that few have the courage or insight to appreciate.
  • The text implies that it takes a special kind of love and resilience to endure and understand the complexities of the woman's life, suggesting that not everyone is capable of such a commitment.
  • The author seems to empathize with the woman's struggles, painting her as a warrior fighting internal and external battles, and emphasizing the toll that her tumultuous love life has taken on her.
  • The piece concludes with a subtle invitation for readers to consider the depth beneath surface appearances and to contemplate the kind of courage required to love someone with a troubled past.

A Melody To Her Chaos

You’ll need every ounce of your courage

She often thought about her past lovers And their need to disappear so suddenly, She realised she had this terrible habit That often became the end so reluctantly.

A habit of loving people, those that left Who were only there for her temporarily, Usually a few weeks, months or a year Here one minute, then gone momentarily.

I studied her love and her terrible habit And came to believe she had a reason, I saw through the melody of her chaos Her lovers committing pain and treason.

She battled and fought hard constantly Always at war with the otherworldly gods, She refused to put up with their lectures Although her heart and head were at odds.

Restless from the hunger of her demons Her chaos continued to swirl around her, Thwarted by unsatisfactory relationships She became a heartbreak connoisseur.

I thought if they would take the time to see There is a dark beauty hiding there in sight, You’d need to look past her fictitious smile But it is a beauty that would make it all right.

It would take an exceptional loving someone Testing their courage as they dipped their toe, Do they have what it takes to stay, to love her Or only hang around for a short month or so?
