A Major Source Of Evil In Our World

This Inherent Trait Of Ours Truly Is Damaging & Destructive

Arrogance is truly a destructive personality trait. This is because, individuals with this trait feel somewhat justified in their decisions and actions, even if it causes harm to others and their surroundings.

When people are arrogant, they mainly focus on fulfilling their personal interests and agendas. They become less considerate, thoughtful, and responsible concerning the well-being of other people and things around them.

Hence, they may proceed to decide and act in ways that cause harm to others without much guilt or restraint.

In their minds, they’re justified in making and carrying out those particular destructive decisions and acts, and they just brush off or downplay whatever amount of guilt or hesitation they may have.

One Of The Worst Qualities A Leader Can Have

This arrogant mindset is particularly harmful and destructive when it's possessed by political leaders, even more so those who have major influence on the global stage.

This is because such leaders wouldn’t have much self-control or restraint in carrying out decisions that fulfill their personal agendas and are driven by their greed for profits and power, regardless of the devastating effects they have on the rest of the world, including their own country’s citizens.

Throughout our history up till now, we have witnessed the horrible, devastating effects of the decisions of several political leaders driven by such agendas and greed.

And it’s safe to say that one of the main personality traits that these particular individuals had in common was arrogance, more likely than not.

Arrogant Leaders Bring About Death And Destruction

Such leaders have engineered and pushed for wars, colonization, geopolitical conflicts, political destabilization of other countries, stealing natural resources, etc.

And because of their arrogance, personal agendas, and greed, it’s the majority of people, that is the average citizens all over the world, who end up paying the price.

Arrogance Is A Main Factor In Discrimination

Arrogance can and has also played an integral role in discriminatory acts as well as aggression based on ethnic, religious, and caste lines.

The perpetrators of such acts are arrogant in the sense that they feel superior to people of different ethnicities, skin colour, religious beliefs, lower class, or status in society, etc.

And because they perceive these other people to be inferior to them, they look down on these people, thus giving them low value.

This then enables these perpetrators of discrimination to feel justified in discriminating and attacking others simply because they feel that they’re more powerful, and it feels satisfying as they’re acting upon their own arrogance.

How many individuals and communities throughout history have suffered deeply unfair and brutal discrimination and attacks due to this personality trait of arrogance?

Strict Systemic Measures Need To Be Implemented To Control People’s Arrogant Tendencies

Therefore, society in general needs to establish systemic measures in order to keep people’s arrogance in check so that it doesn’t result in truly devastating consequences.

At the individual and societal levels, such measures would include implementing strict laws, along with strict punishment to ensure that people’s basic, fundamental rights and dignity are protected and upheld.

Apart from that, comprehensive anti-discriminatory and anti-violence laws should be enacted and strictly enforced in societies.

Such measures would definitely help curb and control the behaviour and actions of certain people acting upon their arrogance, especially those with strong biases or ultra-conservative or extreme beliefs and ideologies.

At the level of global politics as well as geopolitics, ideally, the current established global institutions should serve as proper check and balance mechanisms to curb and control leaders who don’t care about violating international laws and committing crimes against humanity toward other countries for their own personal agendas.

However, our current institutions are too weak to do so, and the major global powers are able to act with impunity without having to face any consequences whatsoever.

It Ultimately Comes Down To The People To Hold Their Leaders Accountable

Hence, it’s ultimately up to the common people, especially those residing in the same countries where such arrogant and greedy political leaders are from, to challenge and apply pressure on their leaders to stop pursuing their destructive ambitions.

If there’s no or very little pressure applied from the masses, these arrogant leaders won’t care.

But, if there’s a significantly large enough movement of common people demanding better, more responsible governance and accountability from their leaders, then those leaders will have to seriously take their demands into consideration and pull back on their greed and political agendas.

We Must Evolve Past This Truly Destructive Trait

In conclusion, it can’t be denied that arrogance is and has been one of the main factors preventing humans from peacefully coexisting, achieving equality, and prospering together.

Therefore, for the sake of humanity’s long-term ability to survive, thrive, and continuously progress, we truly need to start evolving past the destructive personality trait of arrogance.
