POETRY SERIES
A Loving Farewell to ‘Yeoubi’ and Warm Welcome to ‘Sifar’
Come, and enjoy one more elegant series with us!

Dear Paper Poetry Patrons, Hello, Bonjour, Olá, Salaam, Hola, Nǐn hǎo, Konnichiwa, Guten Tag, Namastay, LOVE.
Welcome to yet another Poetry Series newsletter. We are still in the ‘ber’ months and the earth is painted in gold. Leaves have almost fallen giving space for sun rays to reach and share their warmth with the ground.
Likewise, we pray that you all have warmth in your hearts and happiness in your souls.
If you want one more reason to be happy, I entreat you to check out the fantastic Poember November poetry prompt by Carolyn Hastings.
This rhyming prompt is so much fun and tickles the heart and mind in rhythm. Rhyming makes children and adults chuckle with equal ebullience.
Now let’s tend to the business of this Poetry Series newsletter 😜
What is Poetry Series?

Poetry Series is a platform to —
- Explore a theme in depth while showcasing your work.
- Claim a special spot in Paper Poetry publication.
- Have mention in the newsletter with your photograph.
- Enjoy increased visibility.
- Receive an e-certificate from Paper Poetry to use for your branding and endeavors.
- Cherish an experience of a lifetime; trust me, the journey of carving a series on a theme will be worth your time, effort, and a loving legacy.
Yeoubi — Poetry Series #10
Before we introduce our 11th Poetry Series theme and the poet, we wish to bid a loving farewell to our 10th Series poet with much love, awe, and admiration.
Yeoubi was the perfect theme for Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar as she finds her poetry in the rhythm of the falling rain, in the soothing of the setting sun, and the ordinariness of a day.
And Yeoubi means the sun shining through the rain.
The poet and the theme seemed to have blended perfectly and the outcome was a series of four wonderful poems 👏👏.
In her first poem, Of Flies and Butterflies, she took on Yeoubi with a fly’s death and weaved a story of sunshine and rainbow around it.
The sun within, luminous through her Mildly stretched lips —
She was born. Again.Inside her.
Her 2nd poem, Moonshine Smiles at My Bone is powerful and tender in tandem.
The sensitive author in her becomes the voice of a century-old building at the corner of the city that is barely holding on against the vagaries of life.
And who else than a poet to place words in a brick’s lips?!
Her poems intensify and with her 3rd, IX/XI-That Fall, she grips us with a true story: a night spent anxiously waiting for a word from a close family member, in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy.
A night of storm, curtains drawn, A thin streak of morning beam entered through the blinds, Squirming dust dots lighted and alive. For the rest — it was life after death.
Her concluding poem, Silhouettes My Shadows Don’t Meet, a musical feat is an ode to the music she grew up listening to. The beats emanate from the connect which was created many suns ago when she touched the first reed of her harmonium, at the tender age of eight.
For the sun within will always shine through the veil of timeless pour……
Below is the showcase of Monoreena’s work.

Thank you, Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar for showing us all that sun within will always shine through the veil of timeless pour……Yeoubi
Below is her certificate of appreciation from Paper Poetry.

… and the list never ends.
Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, drumrolls please. Let’s welcome Poetry Series #11 writer Lubna Yusuf.

When we approached her with a couple of themes, she picked up Sifar, Arabic for Nothingness.
The poetry form she used for her first poem is Tanka poems and a Monoku as she loves to explore the beauty and subtle simplicity of these ancient poetry forms. Did we tell you that Lubna read creative writing at Oxford University? 👏👏
Do read and absorb her first poem on Sifar where she so eloquently expresses that everything ends and begins with nothingness, Sifar
amidst love lost and dreams to weave all that ends shall begin with sifar
Lubna, we can’t wait to read the gems and pearls you churn out from diving into the sea of nothingness, Sifar.
Welcome onboard Poetry Series ❤️
