A Love Beyond Death
Book Review on P.S. I Love You By Cecelia Ahern

Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates. But not Holly and Gerry.
Her face was apathetic, Her voice resentful, Her touch was lost and eyes were swollen. It happens when you love someone deeply and passionately that you cannot imagine your life without them.
Every day she woke up with a terrible feeling of lying on her bed with closed eyes. She didn’t dare to face one more day to live without Gerry. Had she given a chance to rewind her life and she wouldn’t have chosen someone else except her soul mate Gerry.
P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern is an excellent work of honest mind and heart-warming emotions. It deals with Holly whose life became crippled, dreams died and faith was trampled after losing Gerry. He didn’t die a natural death.
At this juncture, I find it hard to distinguish between what’s natural and unnatural death? Death and fate share a strange relationship. Isn’t it? Everything happens for a good reason and I wonder how the death of our loved ones does something good for us?
Gerry- What an admirable person with a charming personality. The moment I finished reading this fantabulous book, I couldn’t get him out of my mind for days. He knew very well what a woman wants? What did she wish to have in her life?
His woman was special and lucky. He did everything which she desired and ever wished for. She was blessed with her childhood sweetheart as her soul mate. They used to fight, taunt, and irritate each other. They crossed all the limits of fighting, they even abused each other. One thing was common in them and that was their immortal love for each other.
Their fight never affected their love, respect, and understanding for each other. They accepted and admired each other for what they were. Going through all the loving and carefree days, they didn’t know about the atrocious facet of life.
Gerry was diagnosed with Brain Tumor and he had to die. He didn’t have much time to spend with the love of his life, Holly. How their fights turned into love and care, their acrimony into respect, their fears into strength, and their everlasting bond into immortal love will touch your heart like it did mine.
I wonder if someone as real as Gerry exists in this cunning world? A husband, best friend, soul mate, a lover who knew that he’ll die and leave beautiful letters for his wife. He trained and prepared her to face life without him, to walk courageously, and make more memories without any regret.
Holly- What shall I say about her, but you know what; I fell in love with her. Her bitchy character, mood swings, cunningness, arrogance, and spirit to live alone influenced me a lot. The way she carried on with her life as a half-dead person, stunned and mum at times, remembering everything about Gerry, still trying every day to gear up with life.
She touched my heart and made me realize that sometimes it takes more than we expect to move on with life. Sometimes, it’s hard to define the period in which a person can move on? What does exactly move on means? How do we realize yeah this is the time to consider someone else? Believe me, like Holly I’m unable to understand how people move on so fast in their life?
Unlike others, Holly learned about accepting things on her own. She turned 30th and celebrated her birthday with family members. I liked her best friend Sharon, Sister Ciara (with pink hair), Brother Declan (A director in making), Richard (A zany character) and Jack (Her favorite and best Sibling).
Everybody was unique in his or her way. Her parents i.e. Elizabeth and Frank, had an impactful role and advice for her always. Holly started receiving Gerry’s letter every month and it was more like her dose to keep her going in life. The day she opened the last letter, was the day she realized what Gerry wished to convey to her.
He was gone but yet somehow he was alive in her thoughts and memories. Her soul mate taught her how to fall in love again, how to make new memories, how to keep moving ahead and he’ll be right beside her as a guarding angel. From the dead person, he turned into an eternal shining angel.
My favorite excerpts
Memories were fine but you couldn’t touch them, smell them, or hold them. They were never exactly as the memory was, and they faded with time.
Remember our wonderful memories, but please don’t be afraid to make some more.
Don’t be afraid to fall in love again. Open your heart and follow where it leads you…..and remember to shoot for the moon…..P.S…I Love you
Final Thoughts
There are certain pages with unsaid feelings which made me cry a lot. I cannot recall a single page where I couldn’t relate this book with myself. As if on every page, Cecelia Ahern has left something for me to discover.
I know how it feels when you live alone, I know how much it hurts when someone doesn’t listen to you, I know how it tears you apart when you wish to be valued and cared for…and nobody stands beside you.
This book is something that is beyond a concept of a book. It’s not just a love story, it’s a piece of someone’s heart and it’s been written for someone who has been deeply loved. Who was blessed and irreplaceable?
Holly came into touch with different people, Daniel proposed her too but she didn’t accept his offer. She wasn’t in love and she knew she wasn’t a fool. She knew sometimes it takes a lifetime to forget someone. But to whom she would love to forget? Gerry? I knew it, she won’t.
I feel glad for those who have Gerry in their lives. May you always be blessed with love throughout your life. Holly was such a woman who had been deeply loved, advised by someone she loved, and learned how to heal herself through the hardest times of her life.
My Favorite: They say that nothing lasts forever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after they’re gone.
