“A Lot Of Words Were Took Out Of Substance”
They ain’t all Einstein

Antonio Brown — or Antonio Clown as I call him — is just that. A clown. He’s also a near-moron. How many millions of dollars did Brown cost himself when he took off his shirt, vogued for the crowd, and then walked off the field? And exactly what impression did he leave on witnesses — one that reflected on the entire league — when he pulled that stunt?
Look at the title of this story. Those words are a direct quote from Brown, who I find it difficult to fathom actually attended high school — let alone an accredited university for three years. He sounds more like Archie Bunker than a college student.
To be fair, Brown isn’t the only NFL player whose stupidity defies description. I’m always amazed by athletes who don’t know the rules of the game they play and thus, make exceptionally boneheaded plays to hurt their teams. I cite one from this past weekend during which a kickoff returner fielded a kickoff at the three yard-line and then promptly stepped out of bounds.
All he had to do was step out of bounds first and then touch the ball and the next play would have been spotted at the 40 yard-line for his team rather than the 3. One of the announcers observed that these sorts of scenarios are practiced over and over again by teams in training camp. This dude has been playing football for almost this entire life. And still, he made that stupid mistake.
The thing about football players is: for the most part, they excel at being big, tough, strong, agile, and fast. But not intelligent. And nothing could make this reality more apparent than the acts of Antonio Brown and that player who stuck his team at the 3 yard-line because he doesn’t know the rules of his own game.
I still love football. It is by far my favorite spectator sport. But I have no delusions about the majority of the men who play the game. They’re neanderthals. Strong of body and weak of mind. The coaches’ and some quarterbacks’ minds are as agile as most of the players’ physicality. But beyond them, your average player is not somebody whose opinion on foreign affairs interests me. You get the idea.
