A Little About Me
My Medium bio says I’m still learning at the School of Life, and that’s probably the best description of me.

I have worked a lot of jobs, some more interesting than others.
And I wear a lot of hats, though I have worn more in the past than I do now.
I sincerely miss some of those hats, too.
Heartaches? Oh, yes. There have been heartaches, and some of them still take my breath away. Friendship gained and lost…A child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness… Seeing my mother take her last breath…Caressing my late husband’s face for the last time.
But I’ve had many joys, too… a long and committed marriage, hearing my babies cry for the first time, walking for a diploma, jumping in ocean waves, hugging my mom after not seeing her for months, a car trip to the west coast and back when I was a teenager, and napping with a lazy dog and a purring cat.

My work life
Writing coach
I am a writing coach for middle and high school students via Write At Home, an on-line writing program. I have been doing that for over ten years.
Blogger
I love my family, the ones here and the ones gone. I write about the ones who are gone because they cannot write for themselves. I don’t want them to be forgotten which is why I started my website and blog.
At first my only goal was to keep my ancestors alive through their stories, but then I realized that I can keep myself alive, too, by writing my life stories. But how? Enter Guided AutoBiography.
Life Story Coach
I discovered Guided AutoBiography (GAB for short) and took a class. It was fun and easy to write stories about my life using the Birren method of GAB. I enjoyed it so much that I became a certified instructor myself.
I teach group classes live, on-line via Zoom; and I start working with my first private coaching client in July. Click here to get my free e-book, Write Your First Life Story Today.

Writer in General
I have a novel banging around in my head. It’s on the back burner right now as I deal with more pressing matters.
Since I started writing for fun in second grade I’ve written short stories, bad teenage poetry, essays, two novels (both were practice novels), numerous Letters to the Editor, magazine articles, blog posts, Medium articles, homeschool curriculum, The Growing Up Years (volume 1 in the Easy Family History Journal series), and more.
Me and the School of Life
Losing my husband changed my outlook on everything, and I mean everything.
Life is short. Really short, even if you live a long time. Time is precious. And peace in hard to find in this busy, noisy world.
I intentionally aim to stay focused on the most important things — relationships. Between people, between groups, between generations, and most importantly between myself and God.
I aim to find wisdom and to share wisdom. I often find it in stories of my ancestors and writings of old.
There really is nothing new under the sun. What we deal with now in modern society was already dealt with in generations passed and centuries ago.
Lastly, I want to have as few regrets as possible when I leave this planet, and I want that for others, too. I wrote about that on Medium a few weeks ago.
That’s me. Thanks for reading; and if you have any questions for me, ask away.
