A lightning strike at Seorak Beach in Yangyang left one dead

Tragic news struck the shores of Yangyang, a coastal town, on 11 June 2023.
A 36-year-old man, whose surname was disclosed as Cho, met an unfortunate fate when he was rendered unconscious by a sudden lightning strike at Seorak Beach the day before.
The incident occurred in Gangwon Province, situated on the east coast of South Korea.
Since the incident on Saturday afternoon, 10 June 2023, Cho had been in an unconscious state at a local hospital.
Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away on Sunday, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
The police and fire officials have confirmed the tragic outcome.
Upon receiving an urgent distress call at approximately 5.33 pm on Saturday, the fire officials swiftly responded to the scene.
Reports stated that multiple individuals had been struck by lightning and were found lying on the beach, a stark reminder of the unpredictable forces of nature.
Alongside Cho, 5 other individuals also fell victim to the lightning strike, sustaining injuries.
However, their conditions have stabilized, and they are currently on the path to recovery, offering a glimmer of hope amidst this circumstance.
Authorities are now examining CCTV footage and gathering witness accounts to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to this freak incident.
