A Letter to Russia
Dear Russians,
Firstly, I want to thank you for the extraordinary sacrifices you and your ancestors made to defeat the loathsome 20th century fascism of Europe. As the weird synchronicity of history repeating itself would have it, fascism commenced in earnest on the political stage exactly a hundred years ago with Benito Mussolini gaining control of Italy in 1922. It would take another 11 years before Hitler, via the declaration of emergency orders after the Nazi black flag operation of burning the Reichstag, secured autocratic control over Germany, and then another 6 years before the world was plunged into war, but Mussolini was the first domino that set in motion the risible rise of European fascism.
Most people in the West are ignorant of the fact that the vast majority of the Second World War was fought on the Eastern front, between the Nazis and Russia. Many of us would not be here if it wasn’t for Russia. Many of our parents and grandparents would have died horrifically in death camps if Russia had not closed down the Hitler shit show. For this, every single person on the planet owes the Russian people a debt of gratitude. Lest we forget. But we have forgotten. Worse, we aren’t even in a position to forget because we’ve never been told the truth in the first place.
Now, in the West, fascism and totalitarianism have again reared their ugly heads and begun to wrest control over the apparatus of governance. Across the world, governments have become hand socks for the self-interest of big business, which is, and always has been, the financial bedrock of fascism. Power in the corporate world has become concentrated in the hands of a small, tight cabal of co-conspirators whose net of corruption now encapsulates almost the entirety of the global economy. Big pharma, big butchering, the petrochemicals, the I.T’s, the media, are all aligned in an insidious block chain of corporate elitism. These are dangerous times. The chain is chiefly held together by the obscenely powerful American armaments industry. Those buying and selling killing machines, those whose interest is in conflict and in war, they are the people who pretty much run the world, which is why we find ourselves in such a deplorable state of affairs.
The parallels with the rise of fascism a hundred years ago and now are frightening and too uniform to ignore. The exploitation by Mussolini and then Hitler of emergency laws that suspend the normal checks and balances of oversight and probity, are mimicked in the contemporary adoption of emergency laws as a response to a sham global pandemic. Emergency laws enacted by Hitler and his corporate backers were only rescinded after a sickening world war killed 50 million people. What is it going to take for the current emergency laws to be rescinded?
The fact the insipid leader of the U.S and chief sycophant to the U.S war industry, Prez Biden, announces the pandemic over in an interview with 60 Minutes and then in the same week, signs off on the extension of the emergency laws that arose out of the faux pandemic, is indicative of a deep malaise within the U.S. political system. The duplicity of U.S politics is so entrenched that there is only token effort made in even bothering to cover the malfeasance up. It’s easier to just throw outspoken dissidents who dare reveal the truth into jail, such as the case with Julian Assange. Or, when the going gets tough, which it is set to do, assassinating those who would exercise the audacity to speak out against tyranny. That’s the American way.
I am no expert on the structure of Russian governance but the fact you have been cut adrift from the global web of deceit that has its main wasp nest in Washington, means that at the least, you are a further step away from the entrenched corruption that has overtaken Washington. The great nation of Russia, who gave us Gogol and Pushkin and Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, who saved our asses from the mad, brute insanity of Nazism, who halted the crazed militaristic egoism of Napoleon, may again be called upon to oppose the latest wave of despotic violence rising from the West.
Western democracy is dead. It had been struggling valiantly against corporate corruption for decades, but it has been killed off by the pandemic. We now live, here in the West, under a soft totalitarianism. How soft it is varies according to how much you are prepared to remain mute and repressed. If you choose to exercise that once championed notion of free speech, the soft can become hard as a truncheon in the face, very quickly. We live under emergency thug rule. We live under the jackboot violence of might is right.
Karl Marx pointed out that capitalism relies on warfare to re-invigorate itself. Marx may have been shaky on the model of replacement for capitalism, but his critique of the machinery of capitalism has proved time and time again to be spot on. Russians, it is important for you to know there are those in the West who understand that the war in the Ukraine has been orchestrated principally by NATO and the American war machine. All that was required to avoid war was guarantees the Ukraine would not join NATO. The opposite occurred. Ukraine became a patsy for American provocation, instructed to incessantly poke the bear. No-one should be too surprised that under threat of a hostile, irrational, trigger-happy NATO bordering Russia and surrounding Crimea, the bear was left no choice but to bite back.
I wanted to let you Russians know, that there are those in the West who understand the true enemy here is not you, nor is it Vladimir Putin. There are those who recognize that the enemy of peace is the U.S arms industry and its nexus with the U.S military and the CIA, who are all aligned and hell bent on manufacturing war.
They have succeeded. There is a war raging right now, between Russia and NATO. The U.S, through its repulsive warmongering zealot on the ground, Zelensky, has turned Eastern Europe into a battle ground. Happy days for the armaments industry. Escalation seems inevitable. It is time for the embarrassing lap dog nations of Europe to step away from U.S warmongering. America has nothing left to offer Europe but violence. America has digressed back into its atrocious and barbaric slave roots. Anything that is decent in America — and there is still much — is now unambiguously opposed to its own government. Decency and credibility can be defined by those speaking out against the U.S Government. Rest assured Russians, what oozes from the vile propagandists of the Western media does not reflect the sentiments of the people.
Marx dreamed of the oppressed of the world joining together to defeat the despotic exploitation of Capital. Now, through technology, that dream of unification, of the free association of ideas, is possible. However, those with a vested interest in suppressing the truth, those who incite violence, are shutting down communication between people. This letter is my small way of attempting to bridge the iron silence of censorship that separates us, and to wish you well, comrades.
Thank you.
Dasvidaniya.
Peace be with you.
