A Letter to My Medium Friends
It’s time to break the good news

My dear Medium friends,
Having realized this platform is no longer good for earning millions, what should we do with that knowledge?
This is the big question, isn’t it?
I’m sure this issue has been tormenting you recently and, like a voluptuous Succubus (or a Succuba, whatever your physical preferences are), has been trying to lure you away.
‘Close your account!’
‘Go to Substack!’
‘Make your own website!’
‘Start a YouTube podcast!’
‘Start writing books, publish them using the cheapest paper, and give them away to poor school libraries in third-world countries.’
‘Or, even better, become a firefighter. This was your childhood dream, wasn’t it? Now is the time to fulfill it!’
Well, I understand you, friends. I’ve been tossing and turning in my bed as well, thoughts like these crossing my mind, until finally, drenched in sweat, I got up and said to myself.
‘Freedom!’
(Yes, I used Mel Gibson’s voice. There was no better way to persuade myself.)
I decided I’d stay here.
I’ll stay here, but from now on, I’ll be free.
Well, I mean, my hands and eyes will be definitely still tied to the keyboard and the screen, but my soul will roam in the celestial air.
I’ll no longer write what I think is trendy and commercial.
I will no longer spend hours advertising my articles here and there, reading dozens of pieces totally unrelated to my personality or the topic I am advertising.
I’ll no longer try to write every day or every other day or keep whatever schedule I have tried to maintain until now.
As for what I will do,
Well…
Did I say I chose freedom?
I’ll use Medium as a diary. It means I’m going to complain, and brag, throw fits of despair and happiness, cry and laugh openly. I’ve been doing this modestly until now. I decided to continue doing it shamelessly.
I’ll write more super unboostable stories, like:
1.Fiction
2.Moments of my Journey with God
3. Hold on, did I mention the diary part?
And, lastly, I’ll use Medium as a place for advertisement. If I decide to start knitting small picnic baskets and sell them on Etsy, be sure you’ll be the first to know about it.
Oh, and lastly-lastly, I’ll interact a lot with my friends here, regardless of what Medium says about interaction. You’ve been with me in this long and bloody fight, and I’ll take care of you until my last breath. (Did you hear the sound of trumpets?) Meanwhile, feel free to be free as well. It’s very liberating. I can assure you.
Your spiritually renovated Medium-mate.
P.S. Who is no longer
Medium-
Made.

Thank you!
