Summary

A child named Daniel writes a heartfelt letter to Mrs. Claus expressing concern for her well-being during Christmas, offering companionship, and inquiring about her life at the North Pole.

Abstract

In a touching gesture, Daniel composes a letter to Mrs. Claus, diverging from the typical Christmas wish list. He acknowledges the mix-up with the colored socks from the previous year but emphasizes his gratitude for any gifts received. Daniel's curiosity about Mrs. Claus's preferences, activities, and personal life shines through as he asks about her favorite cookies, her relationship with the elves and reindeer, and her family traditions. He even ponders if she ever feels lonely while Santa is working. To ensure Mrs. Claus doesn't feel alone, Daniel offers to share his family with her and invites Santa to join them for Christmas morning. He has written a song and plans to write a movie about Mrs. Claus, showcasing his creativity and desire to celebrate her often-overlooked role. The letter concludes with Daniel wishing Mrs. Claus a Merry Christmas and enclosing a drawing, revealing a deep sense of empathy and holiday spirit.

A Letter for a Claus

Dear Mrs. Claus,

I wanted to write to you this year. I’m not asking for presents. I just wanted to know that you are happy. No one ever asks how you are doing or wishes you a Merry Christmas, so I thought I’d try something different this year. Besides, your husband got me the wrong colored socks last year. But I’m not sad. I understand there are a lot of kids less fortunate than me, and I am very grateful for any gift I get.

What do you like? Do you like cookies, too? Does Santa ever save some for you and bring them home at the end of Christmas? What’s your favorite type? Mine are thin mints. What do you do when Santa is working? Do you hang out with the elves? Which is your favorite reindeer? What do they eat? Is there grass on the North Pole? Mine is Dancer. How do you celebrate Christmas? How did you and Santa meet? Does your family like him? What’s your favorite place to vacation? Did you ever want to have children? Do you have other family like a grandma and grandpa? My family can be your Christmas family if you want. My mom and dad won’t mind. You can stay in my room, and we can sing Christmas songs while Mr. Claus is at work so you don’t have to be alone on Christmas night. Maybe you can ask Santa to come open gifts with my family on Christmas morning. He’ll probably be tired. My mom is tired when she comes home from a long day at work. Do you tell him stories to cheer him up? I can make up a story for him like I do for my mom. What do you give him for Christmas? What does he give you?

I wrote a song about you since there are none. It goes,

“Mrs. Claus, the mystery lady, does she jingle and mingle, and who was she when she was single? We love you and the elves, too. Santa just stepped in reindeer poo. La la la la la la la la laaaaaa.”

What do you think? It’s not done. I want to write a movie about you since there are none. I’m going to give it to you next year. Can I play one of the elves? I’m very short.

OK, I have to go to bed now. I hope you are enjoying Christmas as much as me and my family and that you don’t get lonely while Mr. Claus is at work.

Merry Christmas!

Daniel

p.s. I drew you a picture in case you can’t have Christmas with us this year.
