A Letter forYou
Yes, YOU
Dearest,
I hope this letter finds you well.
I know the currents have been coming in strong for some time now, and you must often wonder when it is you’ll be dragged under.
The weight might often feel like it’s more than one can bear — That perhaps all the talk of “being given what you can handle” is incorrect. Or worse yet, that you must not belong here.
I need you to know I feel your pain. I acknowledge, understand, and sympathize with it. When life feels like a revolving door of struggle, all you want to do is throw in the towel and call it a day. To just be done with it all.
But I need you to hear me right now. Block out all the noise around you for merely a moment, please.
This message is of utmost importance.
You are the most radiant, beautiful soul. Your power shines so brightly that you are blind to its presence.
You don’t need to figure everything out right now. You need to reconnect with yourself and divinity, for this is where your power lies. It’s how you will come to feel whole again.
You need not be an image of perfection. Who you are is perfect despite, and perhaps due in part to, your flaws.
There is not a single other walking the Earth who could be you. Only you can do that. We, the others on this planet, need you, even if you couldn’t possibly understand why.
So I ask you, what is it you need or want at this very moment?
Do you need to rest?
- Then do so. The world will be here when you get back.
Do you need comedic relief?
- Watch your favorite funny movie
- Watch those hilarious animal videos all over the internet
- Go watch a stand-up comedian in person
Do you need to feel less overwhelmed?
- Step away from all priorities for a moment. They’ll still be there when you return.
- Creating space is necessary for handling them efficiently.
Do you need to feel connected?
- Meet with a kindred soul for lunch.
- Give someone you love a hug.
- Call that friend you’ve been thinking about recently.
Do you need inspiration or excitement?
- Do something completely new. Something you’ve never done before but appeals to you.
Do you want to feel like a kid again?
- Dance in the pouring down rain without a single care.
- And if there’s no rain, go to a local park and swing as high as you can go.
- And if it’s too dreadful outside, build something out of Legos, color in a coloring book, play card or board games, make something with Play-Doh, or whatever else your heart desires.
- Be playful for no reason other than to be.
Do you want love and companionship?
- Care for and love yourself at the deepest levels, even those parts you don’t particularly like.
- Love you in the same way we love you — the way your parents you, the way your best friend loves you, the way your grandparents love you, the way your siblings love you, the way your cousins love you…
Remember:
- A bad moment does not mean it’s a bad day.
- A bad day does not mean it’s a bad year.
- A bad year does not mean it’s a bad decade.
- A bad decade does not mean it’s a bad life.
The bad is only there to recall what is good. And, my dear, you’ve got a whole world of good surrounding you. Take a look around and see it all, I mean REALLY see it.
Now, feel it.
You’ve got this, I promise.
When another bomb is dropped and you’re almost certain it’s nuclear this time, I want you to stop everything.
Take a deep breath.
And say,
“This does not control me.”
Now, go on. Do what is in your best interest right now, for you and you alone. You don’t do it nearly enough.
All my love,
Taras
