A Kink In My Medium Life

My laptop power supply just bit the dust.

This morning it happened. My laptop registered 1% battery life. I checked everything, power bar, fusebox, a different outlet, nada! To be sure, I tried power out with my wife’s hair dryer. It worked. To make things worse, it’s Sunday.

I used my tablet to post a story that was in draft format. Whew, at least that was an option. Frustrated with the situation, I sat on the deck and drank another cup of coffee. It finally warmed up, so we decided to go for a hike in the jungle. My wife is a source of inspiration for me.

There is a beach 3.5 kilometers from our apartment, with most of the hike through the jungle that surrounds Sayulita. Having learned my lesson about using flip-flops, I wore my hiking shoes. I managed not to bang my foot as we made the journey to the beach.

The first thing I noticed was a young topless woman near the hill descending onto the beach. It’s a common sight on this beach, so I looked around to see more than the usual number of people present. Oh yeah, it’s Sunday. It didn’t take long for both of us to remove our shorts and put on our bathing suits.

There not much further were these locals who were gathering oysters to take back to town. They gave me permission for this photo. Naturally I asked in Spanish.

Then we walked to the opposite end of the beach to find a quiet little place among the rocks, a more private place where I could sunbathe at the edge of the ocean without worrying about being nude. As usual, my wife took a couple of photos, including this one.

The return home was uneventful, a good thing. Once we had showered it was time for me to try writing this post. It is taking much too long for my liking, but I don’t have any choice if I am going to continue posting to Medium. I hope to hear from you in my comments.
