A Heart Of Thanksgiving
Prose about having a heart of Thanksgiving
I wake up every day and recognize the goodness of God. I don’t always say it out loud but I’m intentional about showing it with my life. Having a heart of Thanksgiving is more about me recognizing my life could have gone in dozens of other directions. With God’s grace, I can see his kindness all over my life and I’m forever grateful.

My hope in sharing this prose is that someone will recognize having a heart of Thanksgiving does not always change what happens in your life but it can change you.
We live during a time when challenges emerge every day, and having a heart of gratitude is a rare thing to possess. I understand that life has hills and valleys built into it. There will be some days that are difficult no matter what but our perspective can make a difference.
Gratitude is one of the tools I learned early in life. It was not something that was told to us but it was modeled. The gratitude that was in the nod of the head in the morning, doing someone else chores, preparing something nice for someone during a hardship. It was a way of life, like dew in the morning, the setting of the sun.
The heart of gratitude is different, it is rare, and it beats to a different drum. It is the wind beneath your wings, it reminds us on cold days that the sun will rise again. It is the orchestra in the symphony but most of all it is the smile that never goes away.
A heart of Thanksgiving guides you in ways that you didn’t know existed, and teaches you that every lesson is not a loss. With a heart filled with gratitude, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
A heart of Thanksgiving is like food for the soul, it fosters your greatness. A thankful heart mends the places that no one knows about, replaces the injuries of long ago and fulfills what you thought was lost.
Looking at gratitude and being humbled by what you missed, is a chance to give back to those you may have overlooked. The nod of the head, the unspoken glances, the gifts for no reason, there is always something to be thankful for.
The heart of Thanksgiving speaks volumes about what we value, what makes us smile and who we are as people. It is a beauty that cannot be described, or measured just embraced.
Ultimately, the heart of gratitude is not a badge but a way of life, it’s a gentle breeze, a glass of cold water on a hot day or your favorite ride at the amusement park. The heart of Thanksgiving is a priceless jewel.
