The best person in the world is me. Because I have a horse. I hold it now and again.
Hope you have a horse too.
If you don’t have a horse then it’s good news.
By the way, here we are not talking about a horse.
We are talking about language. And the ornament of the language aka idioms.
Hold your horses is an idiom. It means keep patience or it’s a way of telling a person to wait, hold on, or stop.
Keep patience refers to your turn will come. Or hold yourself before reacting.
You are waiting for withdrawing money and I’m before you and a nice girl before me. Therefore, you and I both need to hold our horses before reaching to ATM to withdraw money.
Patience is precious virtue of humans. Patience in difficult times works like antibiotics.
By the way, I don’t advise opting for antibiotics without consulting with a doctor.
You need to learn the art behind the neurological science of our brain that leads us to be patient.
Sometimes it’s impossible to hold your horses when you stuff your stomach with hot-spicy-yummy foods and take one can of soft drinks followed by desserts and then you feel to go to the loo.
Holding horses after dinner is quite challenging, so eat more but guess first whether you will have to respond to your instant outgoing call.
Holding your horses is also quite tough when your kids like to help you to fix something at home such as fixing a broken door, tightening a screw, ironing clothes, washing toilets and making beds. You become irritated and react to them.
Holding horses is a big challenge at a particular time when you are right but the second person doesn’t like to acknowledge it. Many times it happens when we deal with our bosses.
It’s a legitimate accusation if you are a boss.
If now and again, you are not able to hold your horses in the office then change the office.
I’m a reader, I read every day but all the time an author does not provide me with what I like to read. I lose patience and I release the horses for a moment. After a few days, restart reading the same book and read until I finish it. If it’s inevitable to lose your patience then release the horses for that moment and catch them back shortly.
It’s better to hold your horses when you interact with a few special people in your life: mom, dad, spouse and child.
Especially when your parents are elderly, be patient and hold your horses always. Reacting harshly to old age parents are a sign of an insane person.
A spouse is a gift, be mindful when treating him or her. The one person books a special place in your heart without any blood relation. Holding horses is a wise approach while dealing with your lovely better half.
The ultimate epitome of innocence is a child. Not only hold your horses while reacting on them but also tie your horses, it means don’t lose temper while dealing with a child. We need to put ourselves in their shoes and we must recollect the mischievous acts of our childhoods.

We are netigen (a generation influenced by the internet) who don’t have a sense of patience for anything and everything. Our lives are controlled digitally; hence, we lose the patience and eagerness to respond instantly. This habit makes us lose our human and rational ability to be patient in our life. Suppose you are in a restaurant, your order has been placed, and food will be served on your table. Making noise or getting annoyed with the poor waiter or service staff will not make any changes. Here the wisdom of holding your horses will work in a public place.
