A Good Reason To Resign Early From Congress
Another Republican announced his retirement
It may be called retirement when people leave Congress.
Although they are not really retiring from working when they leave Congress, members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate may consider it retirement from Congress. They leave for various reasons, but it is unusual for them to leave in the middle of their term of office.
There has been news lately about the increasing number of members of Congress who are not running for reelection or are leaving before their term is up. The Republican majority is shrinking as a result.
Getting a great job offer that pays more than double your salary is a good reason to leave Congress. People may be happy to leave that body where hate is constant and contention is the norm.
Representative Bill Johnson is a Republican who has announced that he is retiring from Congress on January 21, 2024. He will become a University president although he is at an age when many people retire from regular employment. He has been a member of Congress since 2011.
A story by Claire O’Hare in State Of The Union has the title: “As Another Republican Resigns, The GOP’s Tiny Majority Shrinks.”
Republican Rep. Bill Johnson of Ohio is resigning from Congress on January 21 to become the president of Youngstown State University, further reducing the House GOP majority.
His appointment has faced criticism, and with Johnson’s departure, the House Republicans will be left with 219 members.
Johnson is taking a job where he will not have to contend with the hate and contention of Congress on a regular basis. He has been fortunate to be offered the job.
The Republican Party in the U.S. House of Representatives has gone through some changes and chaos lately.
