Globetrotters Writer Spotlight — Julia A. Keirns
Spotlight Story About Me — Julia A. Keirns

Hello fellow Globetrotters.
My name is Julia A. Keirns, but my friends call me Julie. I am a new writer here at the Globetrotters Publication. It is nice to meet you.
I love to travel because I love seeing new places. I prefer to travel by road in a car or motorhome. I get airsick when I fly.
My number one travel activity used to be hiking trails. I can’t do much hiking anymore so we drive places and get out to see as much as we can on short walks. And I take a lot of pictures and then write about the places and things we have seen.
I come from a very close family. I was born and raised in northwest Ohio.
I do work as a full-time writer now from wherever the RV happens to be parked. I retired/quit my day job in April 2022 when my husband and I sold everything we owned and moved into an RV.
The best place I have ever been to (or that I enjoyed the most) was touring the Mayan ruins of Chichinitza and Tulum when we went to Cancun, Mexico. I would love to go back again and see more Mayan ruins.

In my spare time, I write — duh. But when I am not writing I am outside exploring nature and photographing everything I see. I do get a creative bug once in a while and have to draw, paint, or crochet. The last thing I crocheted was a blanket for my daughter at Thanksgiving.

My top travel tip is to not be afraid. People are nice everywhere we go. We strike up conversations and make friends easily. Be safe and smart, but do not be afraid to go see the places you want to see.
If I could live anywhere else I would live in a place where the temperature was 70 degrees year-round with no bugs.
My favorite way to travel I already mentioned is by driving. That puts us in charge of when we stop, where we stop, and how long we stay.
Three lessons I have learned from traveling —
- Be prepared for anything.
- Be flexible and patient.
- Be safe and smart.
Follow me and come along as we travel across America in our RV.
