A Gift From The River
Paper Poetry Prompt#1 on Papyrus

The paper is the river awaiting what the land cannot fathom, honesty of life in all flowing; and we as writers bring pebbles and nothing more from the muse.
When we begin to cheat and squander the honour of words for rewards and other trophies, the paper sinks by wetness of greed to meet and tally numbers.
And the weeds by the Nile weep for yet another loss of channel where gods dwell with the living in ships scribing waves to verses.
This gift from the river is honour of serving hope and love to all. A reason it never was a boat the same is for not sailing words that need a repair from the heart.

The poem title is inspired by the term “Gifts of the Nile”, whereby the papyrus was known as one of the gifts from the Nile to the ancient Egyptians.
As a mother, one of my necessaries when I leave the house is a mobile phone. This poem was first drafted on my phone as an email draft before transferring to my laptop. Below is when the poem idea came to me, while enjoying the evening with our toddler by the Steyr River in Upper Austria.

Thank you to Suntonu Bhadra for the fun space to contribute and giving me the honor of Prompt Champion for this poem.
