A Furry Dog Family

November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Happiness”

With just a look brings happiness.

My furry babies give me so much happiness. They are very much my best friends. As an introvert, I don’t have friends. I was never comfortable making friends at school because of my dyslexia. My learning disability set me apart from my peer group early on. Back in the late 80s into the 90s, dyslexia and dyscalculia just weren’t as well known or accepted.

I was the girl who struggled with reading and adding. Back in the day, kids just called people like me dumb, stupid, slow. My anxiety and self-confidence were just not there. The school felt unsafe for me, and trying to keep up with my peers was challenging. But with my dogs, I never felt dumb or stupid. My dogs understood me, and I felt that unconditional love and understanding.

As the years passed, my inclination toward being an introvert stayed the same. Don’t get me wrong, I come from a large family, happily married with two wonderful adult children.

The dogs, though, are my daily companions, my best friends. So when I saw this challenge, it was a no-brainer for me to have the dogs as my happiness.
