A Lively Soul Taken By Cancer
A poem about cancer
In the quiet depths of night, I ponder, dear friend, your laughter once vibrant, now a whisper’s end. Like autumn leaves, your strength begins to fade, yet in your eyes, courage never swayed.
Each day a battle, a relentless fight, against the shadows that steal your light. I see the pain you bravely bear, and in my heart, it’s more than I can bear.
Memories of our shared adventures past, now seem fleeting, like grains of sand cast. Your smile, once a beacon on the darkest night, now dims, a flickering candle losing its fight.
I hold your hand, though words escape, for in silence, our bond takes shape. I watch as time’s cruel hand unfurls, and worry grips me, as the world whirls.
For how can I bear to say goodbye, To the one who taught me to reach for the sky? Your presence, a treasure beyond compare, Leaving an emptiness, too heavy in my heart.
But in this storm, I’ll stand by your side, with love as my anchor, in the tempest’s tide. Though tears may fall like rain’s soft simple soak, our friendship’s flame shall not be eternally erased.
For even as the shadows lengthen their stay, in my heart, you’ll forever hold sway. So rest now, dear friend, and find your peace, for in my love, your spirit shall never cease.
So, whatever happens from now til then, I’ll be there for you Until the end.
NOTE: For a friend who is suffering from cancer.
