A Fowl Mistake

Bob, as thrifty as he is wealthy, tasked his overworked secretary with sending a Thanksgiving turkey to his parents. “Cheap,” he insisted. The assistant, her mind a whirlwind of to-do lists and looming deadlines, absentmindedly arranged the gift. Weeks tumbled past in a haze of paperwork. Then, a call at 3 AM; groggy and disoriented, Bob answered his dad’s odd request, “Record the Packers-Lions game, will ya?” What the hell, dad? Before he could grumble, his mom took the phone. “Happy Thanksgiving from. Istanbul !” she cheered. “It’s the best gift ever!” Confusion gave way to shock as he realized their holiday bird was absent, but their joy was present somewhere along the Bosporus Strait.
