A Fire Recently Wrecked My Fashion House. Why Am I Calm?
Two days ago, a staff member called me. She sounded frantic!
“Fire!”
My world ground to a halt.
It was 5 pm-ish. It would be around 11 pm in Nigeria.
Good. No one would be at the fashion house.
Turns out a spark in the distribution board had ignited nearby fabrics that were improperly stored.
Costly mistake. Expensive materials were burnt to ashes. Thankfully, firefighters arrived in time to spare all the sewing equipment.
Most importantly, no one was hurt.
I’m surprised at my composure, though. My calmness is not borne out of confidence in the insurance company —a battle will likely ensue. It’s not because we already had plans to relocate.
I’m just learning to believe in the light at the end of the tunnel.
To be thankful for each day.
